Review: Sahara (Dirk Pitt #11) by Clive Cussler

4 Stars
Sahara
Series: Dirk Pitt
Author: Clive Cussler
Pages: 649
Another incredible installment by Clive Cussler! In this adventurous eleventh book of the Dirk Pitt series Cussler pulls out all the stops. From not stop action, interesting characters and electrifying suspense, this is one book you do not want to miss!

One of the things that really did it for me in this book was the setting, but mostly how much detail we get. I love books that have been so well researched and written that I can close my eyes and actually be there, that make me crave to go to the places! This book was definitely one of them, the way Cussler describes the desert, from Dirk's and Al's harrowing journey across it, just the detail that went into it absolutely amazes me.

Also in this book I feel we saw more of Al and Dirk's friendship, always there for each other but it was kind of nice to see a little from Al's point of view even if it was just for a minute.

Dirk is literally saving the world again but as I said in my last review it is something that just doesn't get old or repetitive with Cussler, he will pull out all the stops to give you a book you can't put down! And right when you think you have reached the highlight of the book, he throws something else at you.

The detail of the two plots, how the red sea plot intertwined so well with the Civil War angle, they meshed well together, especially with the unexpected presidential part! That was not something I expected. In this book like in the last we get a glimpse of Cussler in his own book, something I enjoy and look forward to in future books. As with the last book I did not read the summary, loved the book, will defiantly do a re-read one day. Kudos to the author for this amazing installment!

Lastly I feel I have to mention the movie that was made from this book. I myself have not watched the movie, I wanted to read the book first, and if I hear it correctly I am very glad I read the book first because I have not heard good things about the movie. I will watch it anyways though to see how it is different, the same, ect.
