Review: Highland Destiny by Laura Hunsaker

4 Stars
Pages: 201
An amazing Highlander romance!!

Mackenzie Stewart and her friend traveled to Scotland for vacation and are staying in an old castle. While on tour of the castle Mackenzie is captivated by an old painting of a man with deep blue eyes. So captivated she was that when the two men dressed in Scottish attire told her to come with her she readily followed them, thinking they worked in the castle. That is until they take her 200 years back in time.

The two men in actuality are wizards and have taken her back in time in the hopes of ending an age-old feud that has that has cursed their lands for years. That being said they believe that Mackenzie, the first Stewart born in 200 years, can end it by marring John Campbell, their leader, who has become deeply induced in the dark arts.

During the explanation of everything that is going on and what they want from Mackenzie their carriage is stopped by none other than Lord Campbell's most hated enemy, Connor MacRae. The sexy and infuriating Laird of the MacRae clan, who has the same deep blue eyes as the picture that so captivated her attention before her kidnapping/time-traveling trip.

I really loved this book and it really takes off from here. After her second kidnapping by Connor, he takes her back to his castle, believing her to just be the fiancée of his enemy Campbell, he never expected to be so attracted to her!

I found Mackenzie to be slightly contrary, brave, sarcastic, and as inexpedient as any 21 century woman but in all the right amounts. She was a great balance that some authors (historical or otherwise) can't find. (Kudos at that Laura!)

Connor was everything that I expect from my Highlanders. Sexy, dominate, strong, a fierce-warrior, loyal and honorable. Altogether they were a perfect match for each other and a great hero and heroine for this book. I couldn't have asked for more.

On a different note, when the time traveling started though I knew it was going to happen I didn't know it would be so fast or smooth, which is something that I really loved. I have read some time-traveling books  where it was bumpy and that the book got sketchy, confusing or some just down right weird. But the author really incorporated it well into the novel, she especially did a great job with balancing the time gap between  Mackenzie and Connor.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a great Highlander romance!! It is fast paced page turner that you will not be able to put down until the last page. I will certainly be keeping a look out for more books by Laura Hunsaker!
