Interview with Gabrielle Evans

Please welcome Gabrielle Evens!!!

HP: How did you come up with the idea for your Moonlight Breed series?

Gabrielle Evans: Would you believe me if I told you I don’t know? Everything around me inspires me to write—commercials, movies, songs, the news, dreams—you name it. From the moment I sit down to write, my characters take over and lead me where the want me to go. It’s an incredible journey, and I’m not always sure how it will end. I knew I loved shifters, but I wanted to do something a little different. From there the idea just spun out of control and Leap of Faith was born.

HP: Softly Spoken Lies [Moonlight Breed 4] is coming out June 2nd can you tell us a little about Cole, Willow and Blaise?

Gabrielle Evans: Blaise is your typical alpha male—big, gorgeous, and with too much testosterone for his own good. He’s also as straight as an arrow. Well, so he thinks until fate throws Cole and Willow in his path

Cole is the brains, the nurturer, and the mediator of the triad. He understands Blaise’s need for control, but that doesn’t mean he’s just going to let the man take over his life.

Willow, well, Willow is the heart of their relationship. He’s not had the easiest life, but you’d never know it to meet him. He’s part elf and the glue that holds their timid bond together. He doesn’t have a violent bone in his body—unless you threaten his mates.

HP: You have another book set for June 13th-- Dark Devotion [Fatefully Yours 1]. This book is about 8 men. Can you tell us a little about this new series concept and a little about Hex, his six demon warriors, and Echo?

Gabrielle Evans: Hex, Eyce, Syx, Myst, Onyx, Vapre, and Fiero are three thousand year old demon warriors, born from the Phlegethon River to guard the pits of Tartarus. Tired of doing Hades dirty work, they escape to the Top World—earth—and live peaceably among the mortals for two thousand years. The Oracle has prophesized a great supernatural battle to come, however, and the demons know they must win the war or be dragged back to the depths of Hades.

Leading up the war each Demon will have to face his own challenge—a test of his cunning and strength. They each share one mate, Echo, who’s a handful, to say the least. Echo has more power than any of them, though, and the warriors must face this truth and overcome their protective instincts to keep him away from the front lines.

There are so many amazing and fantastical creatures thrown into the mix, from vampires and werewolves, to creatures straight from the Underworld. Fatefully Yours is a story of love, devotion, struggle, and the ultimate fight between good and evil.

HP: Authors never fail to amaze me-- Not only is the first book in this series coming out, but you have the second one, Upon Crimson Waters [Fatefully Yours 2] set for June 20th! On your page it says this one is also about 8 men, is it the same 8 men or is this a different set of people?

Gabrielle Evans: The same set of 8 men. Fatefully Yours is a serial—meaning that the main characters repeat throughout the series. There are 9 books, with the 7 demon warriors and their mate, Echo, as the main characters.

HP: You not only write M/M but M/F as well-- are you partial to one over the other? Or do you enjoy writing both the same?

Gabrielle Evans: I would have to say that I enjoy both equally. Since I write mostly M/M some may find this hard to believe, but it’s the truth. I’m not so worried about the gender of my characters as I am the relationship that develops between them.

HP: Your single-title Race the Sun-- fantasy/suspense-- just came out April 30th and is available from http://silverpublishing.com/. Can you tell us a little about the world you have created in this book?

Gabrielle Evans: Race the Sun was probably my favorite book to write. Archias is a three thousand year old ancient warrior who’s been trapped inside of a glass bottle for most of his life. It’s your genie in a lamp story with lots of twists and turns.

There is so much heart in this story, a real love between the main characters as well as Jade and his best friend, Emery. The concept is one of selflessness and sacrifice. What would you be willing to sacrifice to save the one you love? The question is presented to Jade early on in the story, and he has to race the clock—and the rising sun—to answer it.

HP: You have nine works published at the moment-- do you have a work goal for this year? Maybe a number of books you want to have published?

Gabrielle Evans: It’s honestly just one day at a time for me. I’m working hard to finish the Fatefully Yours series, but after that, everything is up in the air. I’d love to say I have a specific goal in mind, but really I can only write as fast as the voices in my head tell me to.

HP: How did you first get published?

Gabrielle Evans: It’s not the tale of rejection after rejection I’m sure you’re used to hearing. I did receive one rejection letter when I first began submitting Leap of Faith. The editor made some useful suggestions, however, I did a little tweaking, and Siren Publishing was amazing enough to take a chance on a nobody.

HP: Do you have an author(s) that inspired you to write? How did you start writing?

Gabrielle Evans: I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. My older brother started reading to me before I could even talk, and it instilled in me a great love of the written word. I have several favorite authors, particularly in the genre I write. Joyee Flynn, Stormy Glenn, Carol Lynne, J.L. Langley—and so many more amazing writers that I look up to and admire.

HP: Do you have a favorite book(s)?

Gabrielle Evans: I have so many! I deeply love to read, and my favorites change along with what strikes my fancy at the moment, whether it be werewolves, vampires, detectives, or aliens. I’m completely in love with the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, however. I highly recommend her books to anyone that loves to see women kick a little butt!

HP: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Gabrielle Evans: Smile, and often. It makes people wonder what you’re up to. J

Thank you for this awesome interview Gabrielle!!

About this author:
Gabrielle Evans grew up in a small town in southern Oklahoma. We’re talking one red light that may or may not work depending on the day of the week. She married her high school sweetheart and the rest is pretty much history. They have two very active boys and one high-strung wiener dog that keeps her constantly on the go. For now, Gabrielle parks her car in north-central Texas, but who knows what tomorrow will bring.
