Review: Blue Moon (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #8) by Laurell K. Hamilton

4 Stars
Blue Moon
Series: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter
Author: Laurell K. Hamilton
Pages: 418
Read Count: 3
In this eighth novel Richard is in jail on trumped-up rape charges and Anita must ride to the rescue and get him out before the night of the full moon...
I really enjoyed this installment for many different reasons. One being Anita finally realizing a lot of different things about the pack and pard and herself, that she just can not control. I think this is a good thing and will change the direction the series was heading into a better direction. I hope.
Another thing was of course, more Richard.
There wasn't really a whole lot of Jean-Claude in this book, which was neither a good thing nor a bad thing to me. It just was. I love Jean-Claude, how could I not? But getting book that is mostly Richard?? I am not going to complain.
My reason for only four stars? There were some parts in the book that I just had to shake my head at and sigh. Things that I hope will change if I am right about this series going in a slightly different direction.
One of those things I feel needs most mentioning though was Anita being all unconformable/embarrassed every time she got around the pack/pard and they got a little touchy and not in a sexual way. If you have read this book and the ones before you know what I am talking about, that has really started to get on my nerves.
I would recommend to fans of Laurell K. Hamilton and the Anita Blake series.

I love this series, but have to say this is probably my least favorite book in the series. I sometimes really, really dislike Richard. Thanks for sharing today. I usually reread most of this series each year before the new release and this year only had the time for the two previous to Hit List, which I have received and am really enjoying.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous! I wish I had pre-ordered Hit List but since I didn't I plan to re-read all the rest leading up to it first.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying it, Denise!! :)
