Review: Skin Trade (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #17) by Laurell K. Hamilton

4 Stars
Pages: 486
Read Count: 3
In this seventeenth installment of the Anita Blake series a vampire serial killer that once visited St. Louis has shown up in Las Vegas--and sent her an invitation she couldn't refuse.

When Anita gets there she has to help the Las Vegas SWAT team catch the bad guy before he strikes again but it seems the local cops have heard her reputation of her sleeping with the Master of St. Louis and being his human servant. So not only is she looking for her monster she has to battle bad attitudes as well. Luckily she had Ted Forrester aka Edward--aka Death and two other Marshals to help her out.

Another installment of Anita Blake that reminds me of the first few novels; giving us that good mysterious and suspenseful plot, mixed with the newer more sexual side of the series and like I said with the last one I think (or the one before) it is heading in a good direction.

I really enjoyed seeing old characters--Edward, Olaf--creepy yes but he does make a good character--and Bernardo. We also get to see Crispin again as Las Vegas is his home turf.

Not only is it his home turf thought but that of Master of the City, Max and his lady and animal to call Chang-Bibiana, the Queen of the white tiger clan and as Anita learns she has been wanting Anita to come and visit her for sometime...

On a mostly non-relevant note; there was no mention of Richard in this book, have to say that kind of surprise me but again, at the same time it did not. We also didn't 'see' or 'talk' to many of Anita's main men.

Overall a very immersing and good novel the only thing I can think would have made it better is if we had more action between them--Anita, Edward, other Marshals and the SWAT team and the 'bad guys'.

I would recommend this to anyone who, like the last ones, liked the last couple of Anita Blake novels.
