Book Description from Goodreads
Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans' voodoo queen just keeps on giving--leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.
Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity--forever. But how do you kill a killer who's already long dead?"
This will have spoilers for this novel and the last books so read with caution.
At the end of the last book, we were left with the information that the under world war that the ghoul leader had been rallying up to had been put to a halt and that Don, Cats uncle was now a ghost.
In this book we learn that though Tate was to replace Don in command of the branch of Homeland Security that guarded humans against the rouge undead; we have a new man in the picture, Jason Madigan. Right off I have to say I knew I wouldn’t like him. Don also knows who he is and starts to hang around him to see why he is really there.
I really liked this line of plot but I have to say that in the end I felt like there should have been more to complete it instead of what we was left with in the end. Hopefully it will be more centered in the next book.
Our main plot of the book though is a ghost, Heinrich Kramer, who used to be a witch hunter and now on every year on Halloween he has a physical body, kidnaps three women he perceives as witches and burns them at the stake. This year though Cat and Bones plans to put and end to him when they learn about him from a ghost friend of Fabian’s.
As I stated above I loved this book, but again I felt some things was left unsaid with Don, Madigan, etc. Also there was no Vlad, which made me really sad as he has to be one of my favorite characters. But Ian did make up for it, giving me laugh after laugh with his always roguish bordering on exasperating attitude. :)
I would recommend this novel to anyone who has read the first books.
