Review: Blood Rites (The Dresden Files #6) by Jim Butcher

4 Stars
Blood Rites
Series: The Dresden Files
Author: Jim Butcher
Mass Market Paperback
Pages: 435
Read Count: 2
Book Description from Goodreads
"Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, takes on a case as a favor to his friend Thomas-a vampire of dubious integrity-only to become the prime suspect in a series of ghastly murders."

This is the sixth book in this series and I have to say it doesn’t feel like it, but that could be due to the fact that to me the last book felt like another 'first' book in the series.

Like the whole series this book has the mystery, suspense and action but in this novel we or should I say Harry also gets some pretty big revelations about his family and the person who taught him and took him in when he had a death sentence hanging over him when he was a kid.

We also have more plot than they above description states. That plot has a name as well. Mavra the Back Court vampire from the book that Harry starts a war with the Red Court vampires, Grave Peril I believe. Harry seems to always be in trouble, huh? Well Mavra is really someone he needs to watch out for she is bad news just from the little we knew about her in Grave Peril. And I have to wonder why it took her so long to show up as that was the third book and this the sixth.

We get a lot more Murphy in this novel than in some of the last one I think, which I liked. Also there is Thomas that said we learn a lot more about the White Court of vampires in this novel.

To my disappointment though, Gentleman Johnny Marcone is not in this novel.

Altogether this was a great addition to the series and a pretty quick read as well.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for a good paranormal/urban fantasy read but I do recommend reading the other books in the series first.
