Review: Embrace the Highland Warrior (Connor Clan #2) by Anita Clenney

4 Stars
Embrace the Highland Warrior
Series: Connor Clan
Author: Anita Clenney
Pages: 266
Book Description from Goodreads
"When the powerful demon that left Shay for dead discovers her empty grave, he comes seeking retribution, believing she possesses an ancient book he has sought for centuries. Knowing she can't fight the demon alone, Shay returns to her clan and the Scottish Warrior who betrayed her...the only man she's ever loved, where she discovers that betrayal isn't always what it seems. Sometimes it's far worse."

I was so excited to get and ARC of this book from the author after reading and loving her first novel in the series, Awaken the Highland Warrior.

Cody, who is very swoon worthy, is our hero of this novel; we met him in the first novel and Shay is our heroine who I do not recall being made mentioned in the first novel.

There was plenty of fighting scenes in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat; there was also many romance scenes as well. Cody and Shay had awesome chemistry and I think their having known each other since they was little really put some heat to it.

You know from the very beginning that they have history, that isn't just the childhood friend type. The author really build on this letting secrets come out and realizations that shock the characters as well as the reader.

I know I said it in my review of the first book but I love all the Highlanders, you know they are sexy, they are warriors protecting humans against demons and recently vampires. The author also makes them great characters that liven up the plot and begins to weave questions in the mind about their story's and past. In this second novel the author also gives a better look at how the Clan works, which was very intriguing, especially learning about the Council.

I had no problems with the book per-se but I have to say that I wished the sex scenes would have been a little more detailed though that isn't to say I didn't like them, I did immensely, but well, a girl can wish for more right? I can not wait until 2012 when the this novel in the series come out, Unleashed the Highland Warrior come out!!
I would recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for a good paranormal romance read.

*I received an Ebook copy of this book for free to review from the author.
