Review: Proven Guilty (The Dresden Files #8) by Jim Butcher

5 Stars
Proven Guilty
Series: The Dresden Files
Author: Jim Butcher
Hardcover
Pages: 216
Read Count: 2
Book Description from Goodreads
"Harry Dresden has spent years being watched and suspected by the White Council’s Wardens. But now he is a Warden, and it sucks more than he thought… So when movie monsters start coming to life on his watch, it’s officially up to him to put them back where they came from. Only this time, his client is the White Council, and his investigation cannot fail — no matter who falls under suspicion, no matter the cost."

*Watch out for spoilers below!*

I loved this eighth book! We really getting 'deep' for lack of better word, into our main character Harry Dresden and his life now.

As per the last book Harry is now a Warden of the White Council, and he doesn't like the job. He understands the necessity of such a job but at the same time he can't help but hate it. Which to me makes sense, Harry is all about saving people and though he will take out the bad guy when need be--it is usually when he knows the bad guys crimes has seen them and the bad guy is trying to kill him. But being a Warden though they do get 'bad guys' leaves him witnessing executions.

Now Harry as he is working for them is set on a job to find black magic in his city and when movie monsters start to come to life he gets straight to the job to take them out and shut them down. Only he doesn't realize that maybe things are leading in a direction of people that he wouldn't want to see hurt until it’s too late.

Dealing with all this above Harry also has to contend with the fallen angle inside his head and the deaths of two people in the last novel, the first he has ever killed out of necessity, but not in a fight.

We have more characters from previous books in this novel such as Thomas, of course, Michael, Knight of the Cross and his family. Mouse, Harry huge dog whom we learn some more about in this installment, Murphy, the Summer Lady and Knight along with some other Fae we have met or had mention of in past novel.

Altogether I loved the novel, great plot, mystery and action.

I would recommend this to anyone--but do recommend reading the previous novels in the series first.
