Review: Bloodfever (Fever #2) by Karen Marie Moning

4 Stars
Bloodfever
Series: Fever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Fae
Mass Market Paperback | Alternate Cover Edition
Pages: 349
Book Description from Goodreads
"I used to be your average, everyday girl but all that changed one night in Dublin when I saw my first Fae, and got dragged into a world of deadly immortals and ancient secrets...

In her fight to stay alive, MacKayla must find the Sinsar Dubh—a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over the worlds of both the Fae and Man. Pursued by assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she can’t trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and powerful men: V’lane, the immortal Fae Prince, and Jericho Barrons, a man as irresistible as he is dangerous.

For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them."

In Bloodfever, the second novel of Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series MacKayla or Mac is still looking for the Sinsar Dubh a very old book which holds black magic over the wolf of Fae and Human. In the first book she met up with Jericho Barrons and in this book she is still hunting for the book with him with her—he knows where to looks for the book and she can detect Objects of Power—OOP’s in the book—making them an ideal team to find the book. Not to mention Barrons happens to be very sexy and dangerous, but I digress.

We have a ton of characters, most of them we actually met, if only briefly, in the first book--like the old woman Rowena, Dreamy Eyed Guy and V’lane, a Fae prince who is also looking for the book.

To make things more difficult Mac is still trying to deal with the death of her sister Alina in the first book as well.

In Mac’s hunt for the book in the first novel she has made quite a few enemies and now is in more danger than before and she is still trying to figure out who is on the playing bored and their reasons for wanting the book, just when she thinks she has the bored in some kind of order though, someone she hadn’t expected shows up and she learns just how little she really knows and how far that person is willing to go to see her dead. . .

I really enjoyed this book; to be honest I can not believe that I let it set on my bookshelf so long after reading the first one!

I LOVE Barrons! I really liked him in the first book as well, but I think this book really has hooked me on him and the series as well. I look forward to picking up the next book and seeing how things with Mac will play out after the ending we had.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the first book and liked it and the series to anyone who is looking for a good Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance.
