*Major spoilers below!*

Changes, is only one word in my mind describes this novel aptly to me and the word that comes to mind is, epic.  My word this novel has everything the last ones did time ten! We have more action, more mystery, more plot twist and many important characters from past books making appearances in this novel.

I just love how the author hooks you from the very first. Some authors build up to the plot but Jim Butcher just throws it in your face from the very start. I believe I mentioned this about the last novel as well; the thought holds true for this novel as well.

In this novel we learn that Harry Dresden has a child, who has been kidnapped, with past lover whom got changed half changed into a vampire by a Red Court vampire; which is what started the war between them and the White Council in the first place.

I feel we have come full circle. Almost.

As I said, Susan. So obviously she is in Chicago again and brought along with her, Martin who works with her in an organization that is dedicated to ridding the world of the Red Court. Stating this I have to wonder if they fought other vampires as well such as the Black Court and White Court; or was it just the Red Court they were after? I suppose that makes sense since the organization is mostly compiled of people who are half-Red Court. But still, something to think about.

The main plot centers on Harry's daughter and getting her back from the Red Court vampires who have taken her before they pull off the plan they have for her.

We also have more plot concerning the White Council though and in the end I was left confused as to what is going on with them and I do hope this is something that is cleared up in the next novel.

More so the ending of the novel is very well done and I applaud the author for his craftiness with this major plot twist and look forward to picking up Ghost Story to see how he pulls it off.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who had read and liked the previous novels in this series as well as anyone who is looking for a good paranormal/urban fantasy read. Though again I do recommend reading the previous books in the series first as though we do get background information in the novels you I personally, someone else might feel otherwise though, do not think they could be read out of order without feeling a little confused.

Also I have to say this and it is unrelated to the novel mostly but that description the "Long ago," really reminds me of the beginning of the Disney Hercules movie; which I love...
