Review: Dreamfever (Fever #4) by Karen Marie Moning

4 Stars
Series: Fever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Fae
Mass Market Paperback
Pages: 498
Book Description from Goodreads

They may have stolen my past, but I’ll never let them take my future.

When the walls between Man and Fae come crashing down, freeing the insatiable, immortal Unseelie from their icy prison, MacKayla Lane is caught in a deadly trap. Captured by the Fae Lord Master, she is left with no memory of who or what she is: the only sidhe-seer alive who can track the Sinsar Dubh, a book of arcane black magic that holds the key to controlling both worlds.

Clawing her way back from oblivion is only the first step Mac must take down a perilous path, from the battle-filled streets of Dublin to the treacherous politics of an ancient, secret sect, through the tangled lies of men who claim to be her allies into the illusory world of the Fae themselves, where nothing is as it seems—and Mac is forced to face a soul-shattering truth.

Who do you trust when you can’t even trust yourself?"

In this fourth Fever novel, Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning we start basically where we left off in the last, which is something that I have noticed about the novels and admit to liking very much. KMM gets us right back in that final moment from the last book, giving us pertinent previous book details incase it has been a while since we last read the book before as well.

So, last book, Mac gets taken by three Unseelie Princes, death-by-sex-fae. I think I will leave it at that. She does get away from them, thanks to Dani but is them Pri-ya.

In the start of this novel we get Dani’s point-of-view as Mac is well, not up to doing the explaining. I have to admit that I really liked that; I have always liked Dani as a character so it was good to get in her head a little and see things from her POV.

Dani took Mac to the Abby, the sidhe-seer stronghold, where the Grand Mistress, Rowena who I dislike even more after reading this book than I did in the previous, resides with her Haven Council over the sidhe-sees, keeping them in the dark, and hiding.

The walls that held for so long to keep the Unseelie out are now down and the Fae world and Man’s colliding causing havoc everywhere, and Mac can’t help as she is Pri-ya. But Barrons comes for her, in the Abby where Rowena would have let her die, he comes with eight others like him; and takes her from the place and, cures her….

There is so much more than this, we have major points with V’lane, when Mac isn’t Pri-ya anymore she finds she is quite different now. Also to name a few key words; Christian MacKeltar, Hunters, the ‘Lord Master’, Ryodan, Mac’s spear that she lost at the end of the last book, the book of course is a key factor in this novel as well and the Silvers.

Would it be bad of me to admit that one of my favorite parts of this book was when Mac is being ‘cured’ from being Pri-ya?

Altogether I really loved this novel and can not wait to start the last!! Gah, that ending though, very turn-the-page-there must-be-more-how-could-there-not-be?!

I would recommend this novel to anyone who is looking for a good Urban Fantasy/Paranormal read but do recommend reading them in order.
