Review: Small Favor (The Dresden Files #10) by Jim Butcher

4 Stars
Small Favor
Series: The Dresden Files
Author: Jim Butcher
Hardcover
Pages: 432
Read Count: 2
Book Description from Goodreads
"The new novel in the New York Times bestselling Dresden Files series.

No one's tried to kill Harry Dresden for almost an entire year, and his life finally seems to be calming down. For once, the future looks fairly bright. But the past casts one hell of a long shadow.

An old bargain has placed Harry in debt to Mab, monarch of the Winter Court of the Sidhe, the Queen of Air and Darkness-and she's calling in her marker. It's a small favor he can't refuse...one that will trap Harry Dresden between a nightmarish foe and an equally deadly ally, and one that will strain his skills- and loyalties-to their very limits.

It figures. Everything was going too well to last..."

In this tenth installment of The Dresden Files by author Jim Butcher, Harry Dresden is hip deep and sinking before he knows what hit him. First thing is e had Summer after him, and can only conclude that is because he killed the Queen's daughter but I am still not sure we ever really got a real reason as to why Summer had put a hit out on him. I mean was it because of that or is this something we will find out in the future?

Next the bad guys from Death Masks, the Denarians; aka fallen angels in coins, are back in town which means we have Michael and Sanya, Knights of the Cross are in this novel as well.

I am also very happy to report that Gentleman Johnny Marcone is in this series, though not with him in focus as in last book, we do not get him actually talking until around the end of the book but on of Harry's goals in this book, as his second favor to Queen Mab, who again asks him to be her Knight, is to save Johnny from the fallen angle's.

So we have some very major goings on in this novel just with the little above but this novel also has way more than mentioned such as the Archive, Kincaid, Murphy, Molly, etc, and it furthers our plot with what Harry has come to call the Black Council as well.

Altogether a great novel, Harry is as always funny in the face of danger making me laugh in situations thick with suspense and the novel is loaded with action.
I would recommend this novel to anyone who has read and liked the previous books in the series and anyone who is looking for a good paranormal/urban fantasy series. But again, I do recommend reading the previous book in the series first.
