Review: Turn Coat (The Dresden Files, #11) by Jim Butcher

5 Stars
Turn Coat
Series: The Dresden Files
Author: Jim Butcher
Pages: 545
Read Count: 2
Book Description from Goodreads
"Jim Butcher's Breakthrough #1 New York Times bestseller
The Warden Morgan has been accused of treason against the Wizards of the White Council-and there's only one final punishment for that crime. He's on the run, he wants his name cleared, and he needs someone with a knack for backing the underdog. Like Harry Dresden. Now, Harry must uncover a traitor within the Council, keep a less-than-agreeable Morgan under wraps, and avoid coming under scrutiny himself. And a single mistake could cost Harry his head..."

Did I say Harry Dresden was hip deep and sinking before he knew it in the last book, Small Favor? Well, in this book Harry is neck deep, sinking and its getting hard to breath!

This book opens up right away with information that catches and holds avid readers of The Dresden Files series attention for the entire novel and leaves them in anticipation of the next novel in the series.

Warden Morgan is on the run from the White Council which he has so dutifully served for years, with a conviction of murdering a council member hanging over his head. And he comes to Harry for help. This is a shocker right away because we all know those who have read the previous books, that Harry and Morgan do not have the best relationship. When Harry was a teenager and killed his old teacher and foster parent, and then tried for breaking the first law but then let off he was left on somewhat of ’probation’. And while that was eventually lifted Morgan made Harry's life pretty hard always trying to catch him on any little thing to quite literally chop off his head.

Now on in the books we do learn a great deal more about Morgan and I have to say that Harry comes to understand why he is how he is and doesn’t 'hate' him anymore but that doesn’t mean they are on good terms. So again good action right from the start.

More so in this novel we get introduced to a Skinwalker, learn more about the Black Council as well as finally get some action instead of just info concerning this. Though at the end of the book, we get left with more questions I admit and more plots that further the Black Council plot.

Few highlight characters in this book: Thomas, Harry's half-brother, more White Court, and of course White Council, Molly, Murphy and more! But no Gentleman Johnny Marcone, unfortunately.

I highly recommend this novel to anyone who has picked up the previous book and to anyone who is looking for a good paranormal/urban fantasy read. But again I do recommend picking up the previous books in the series first.
