Story So Far: Bone Wires by Michael Shean, Part Eight

In the wasteland of commercial culture that is future America, police are operated not by government but by private companies. In Seattle, that role is filled by Civil Protection, and Daniel Gray is a detective in Homicide Solutions. What used to be considered an important – even glamorous – department for public police is very different for the corporate species, and Gray finds himself stuck in a dead end job.

That is, until the Spine Thief arrives.

Bone Wires by Michael Shean is a free serialized Dark Sci-Fi novel that is being published every Thursday on Curiosity Quills, which will be reviewed on Full Moon Bites as the  ‘Story So Far’ with a full review once the whole novel is done.

As with my last review of part seven I have went back and read part one – six; you can read my review of them here.

In this part we pretty much where we left off, with the knowledge of the last murder and how the victim was maybe not all sane. Carter, Gray’s partner, the senior partner as well, is working the case from another angle than Gray, picking up the gang angle that he told the press.

Miss Velasquez or Angela a stripper who was in a sexual relationship with the first victim was in this part again; I had thought that we had seen the last of her when he talked to her about the case in part six but now I think she may become a key character in this whole of the project.

My suspicions on Carter are highlighted in this part by Angela, she doesn’t seem to trust him either, and tells Gray so.

I am really enjoying the story, but contrary to my thought that I may just be kind of confused because I had not previously read the first parts, I have now and I am still slightly confused on some things, this new part still has not cleared them up either, so I am kind of wondering if they author is going to touch on the ‘Pacification’ in any deep way and explain them bluntly. The idea I have now of them are not good, but then again Gray our main character seems to think bad things about them as well, so maybe this is suppose to just be left to the reader to come up with; them to form their own thoughts and reasons of the ‘Pacification’?

Gray gets some information that may be useful to either his or Carter’s case in this one—they are both working the spine-theif case just one is taking each murder—but he still has that dead line of three days to solve it.
