Review: Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse #4) by Charlaine Harris

Series: Sookie Stackhouse, #4
Genre: Paranormal Romance, Vampires, Urban Fantasy, Mystery,
Mass Market Paperback
Pages: 291
Read Count: 2
Book Description from Goodreads
"When cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse sees a naked man on the side of the road, she doesn't just drive on by. Turns out the poor thing hasn't a clue who he is, but Sookie does. It's Eric the vampire--but now he's a kinder, gentler Eric. And a scared Eric, because whoever took his memory now wants his life."
This is my favorite book so far in this series. I am sure you all know the reason for that but I will elaborate anyways—Eric Northman. He and Sookie get together in this book and oh, my, is he great or what?

When I first read that he and Sookie got together in this novel in a review before I ever picked it up I was not nearly as happy about it, mostly because of Bill.

No, I don’t love Bill that much as a character that I was upset on his behalf—he made his bed as the saying goes, now he has to lay in it—but I thought, ‘gah he is going to be annoying about this’ and if that had been the case I would not have liked it nearly as much, if at all. Luckily though, Bill goes away on a trip to Peru to talk with some other vampire that is going to help him with the computer program he started in the last novel that got him into so much trouble.

So Eric and Sookie—of course they do not just decide to ‘date’, after a meeting with some witches Eric gets cursed and loses his memory—and somehow—we never learn how or why—ends up running half naked down Sookie’s road and she sees him and takes him home.

This is again the only start of her troubles—they seem never-ending really after reading the previous books.

To name just a few problems in this novel Sookie must contend with—having to take care of Eric—really no hardship but possibly very dangerous as the witches are still looking for him and Jason goes missing, that would get Sookie down and worried as it would any sister.

That is of course only two things but covers the biggest part of the plot and the other things mostly tie into them.

Altogether I loved it, the sex scenes were much better than that of Sookie’s and Bill’s, the book itself was very fast paced—a one day read if you have the time to sit down with it.

I would recommend this novel to anyone but do think one should read the previous novels in the series first.

  1. This is my favorite book in the series as well because of Eric. He's drop-dead gorgeous.
