Review: The Wedding (Lairds' Fiancées #2) by Julie Garwood

5 Stars
Series: Lairds' Fiancées, #2
Author: Julie Garwood
Genre: Historical Romance, Medieval
Publisher: Pocket Books
Mass Market Paperback
Pages: 384
Purchase: Thriftbooks
The Wedding is the following novel of The Bride, and the finale in author Julie Garwood’s Lairds' Fiancées series, though I suppose it is entirely possible the author may come back to it one day—I highly hope so anyway.

In this novel we meet Lady Brenna and Laird Connor MacAlister.

Connor has long since searched for the trader that killed his father, one he vowed to his father he would find so he could have revenge. He knows who was involved but it is the enemy in his own lands, and proof that he must first find so he can kill him.

But Alec Kincaid, from the first novel The Bride, has decreed that the feuding between him and Laird MacNare must be brought to a stop, so Connor decides to make his last insult. He will steal the English bride that is on her way to be wed to MacNare.

It is so much better for him when he remember that in a way, Lady Brenna had already betrothed herself to him, all he meant to do was marry her, her bonnie looks helped the fact that he would have to be wed to an English, along with the insult it meant to MacNare, but he never meant to feel anything for her.

Lady Brenna is on her way to be married, only told hours before she was off to the Highlands, when the soldiers that were to protect her surrender to the Highlanders that come with the intent of taking Brenna.

Brenna remember Connor soon enough and though she was young when she asked him to marry her she can not say no when it comes down to subduing her fathers soldiers lives not that Connor would have let her say no, he does need her cooperation when it is time to say I do, if not and Alec finds she was unwilling, he would have broke his word to stop the feud.

So she willingly marries him and soon finds that he had saved her from a harsh life with MacNare, and that she is falling in love with him.

Both Connor and Brenna fall in love with each other pretty much from the start, even though Connor is resistant and Brenna just did not realize it yet.

Like Garwood’s usual Hero and Heroine, Connor was stubborn, arrogant (maybe more so than Alec) and fierce in battle and to other, except his wife. Brenna was innocent, care free and all around just wanted to please her husband most of the time, even when it came to his horrid family.

I really enjoyed this as much as the first novel in the series and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good Historical Romance novel to read.
