Sookie Stackhouse, barmaid and telepath is in trouble close at home, again.

This time though trouble comes in the form of fairies.

We really have two main plots in this ninth novel and one is the wereanimals and shifters coming out to the humans as the vampires did some years ago. This goes pretty well at the bar in Bon Temps, there are a few people of course that are upset and more so all over the world but soon after some one is murdered in Bon Temps and it has everyone wondering what kind of hate crime it was—if it was against the were’s or just because the person it happened to in general.

This plot in the novel went pretty good to me. I think peoples reactions to the were’s coming out in Bon Temps went about how most expected and it could have been a lot worse. I do think this will be more expanded on in the next books though as the author did not really focus much on them coming out and the problems, etc. much.

The second major plot part we have deals with the fairies. As in the last novel, Sookie met her great-grandfather she now must deal with his half-human hating enemies.

This plot line was—well I suppose it went well but I can not help but think that—after how the book ended—that everything terrible Sookie must go through, and others as well, could have all been prevented.

All in all I liked this installment but I have to say that—as with the last book—I felt like it missed some of the build up and tension that I really loved from this author. Sure the plot is interesting, but really, I felt like everything was kind of just thrown at Sookie.

I would recommend this novel to anyone who has read and liked the previous novels in the series.
