Author of the Week, Elizabeth Marx, Interview & Giveaway!!

Elizabeth Marx

About the Author:

Once upon a time there was a little girl who told fairy tales to her mother's vintage Martha Washington doll, her favorite toy. She created mystical sagas while configuring elaborate French coifs in the doll's hair. She rewrote her favorite bedtime stories while changing the doll's costumes.

In her teens, she expressed her angst, rebellion and passion on the pages of a worn, cloth-covered journal, with poetry that was both clever and humorous. As an adult, the stories she told herself to fall asleep at night started to haunt her waking hours. She had no choice but to become an author.

Now I write down my stories instead of keeping them to myself or confiding then to my dolls. Be prepared—my novels have been known to make you laugh, cry, or—with any luck—possibly reexamine your own story. So if you like books set in familiar places, or far-off lands, or even those that take place in supernatural realities shrouded in secrecy, you have landed in the right spot. Pull up a cozy chair and escape into the worlds I've created.

Interview with Elizabeth Marx

Holly: Hi Elizabeth! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Elizabeth Marx: I'm a mother, a writer and a fighter. I love a good cause and I don't take no for an answer without asking why. I'm not sure if this makes me stubborn or determined.

Holly: When did you realize that you would like to write and publish a book?

Elizabeth Marx: I think I was about 12, I went to Alabama to visit my great aunt and her neighbor had just published a book of poetry and I thought it was so exciting. I was a little weird about poetry back then.

Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

Elizabeth Marx: Plot always come first for me, I usually know what's going to happen. The characters evolve over time for me, it's almost like having a child, they grow inside you until they grow very real to you.

Holly: Where can we purchase All's Fair in Vanity's War?

Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2012?

Elizabeth Marx: Yes, most likely three titles.

Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?

Elizabeth Marx: Yes, I am working on a novel about a dark ages vampire who only desires one thing, and it isn't blood.

Holly: Can you tell us a little about your first publishing experience?

Elizabeth Marx: I self published 4 titles with two months, it was very overwhelming and it still is.

Holly:You’re out demon hunting (because you’re that kind of awesome) and you
come across one about to kill a young couple. He has not seen you yet; what is
your first course of action?

Elizabeth Marx: Make sure my crossbow is locked and loaded.

Holly:Your life is a contemporary romance novel; how do your meet the love of
your life?

Elizabeth Marx: I just wrote this scene. It's five o'clock in the morning and she backs into him in the lobby of her apartment building, she happens to be backing away from a feral cat and she latches onto the front of her trousers while feeling behind her back for a doorknob and escape.

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Elizabeth Marx: Of course I'd like them to read my books and tell their friends about them and write me reviews and send me notes about what they liked or even didn't like about my books.

Holly: Are you reading anything interesting at the moment? If so, what is it?

Elizabeth Marx: 50 Shades Darker

Random Quickies!

Holly: Vampires or Werewolves?

Elizabeth Marx: Please... vampires.

Holly: Witches or Zombies?

Elizabeth Marx: Witches

Holly: Horror or Romance?

Elizabeth Marx: Romance

Holly: Cats or dogs?

Elizabeth Marx: Cats

Holly: Winter or summer?

Elizabeth Marx: Summer
