Review: Bone Crossed (Mercy Thompson #4) by Patricia Briggs

4 Stars

In Bone Crossed author Patricia Briggs fourth Mercedes Thompson novel, mechanic and coyote shifter Mercy is neck deep in paranormal trouble.

In one of the last novels of the series, Mercy was hired by Marsilia—the local Vampire Queen—to take care of a vampire that was demon possessed, Mercy did. But she also took out the man who made the demon-vamp—the man Marsilia was going to use to make another so she may get back in the good graces of the vampires in Italy that sentenced her to what used to be a desolate land now known as the Tri-Cities.

With the help of her vampire friend Stefan though, Mercy was not caught, until now.

Somehow Marsilia found out and now is out for blood but being protected by the werewolf pack and dating the Alpha, Mercy has pretty goods protection, so it will be her friends that the vampires go after instead.

Another great installment of this series! As I said before I like Mercy more and more with each book and this one was no different.

In the last book Mercy picked her man—Adam, the Alpha of the local pack over Sam (Samuel) the son of the Alpha over all of North-America.

I said in my last review that to me Mercy and her men—when she still had not chosen—did not have much plot, depth but with this novel, since she has now chosen, I had hoped that would change; it was not to be so.

We still do not get a lot of deep plot between Mercy and Adam, sure Adam is in this novel more but that does not mean there was any depth to it, I feel like the author just skims the top of their relationship—but I want to see it all so-to-speak.

We have some Fae dealings in this book, not as much as the last, we get more vampires as you might guess—which was great as Stefan was present in a good portion of the book.

Altogether it was a great installment—fun, pretty fast paced, we got a kind of sex scene between Mercy and Adam (when you read it you will understand what I mean by ‘kind-of’), more of the wonderful walking stick, and we met Mercy’s mom. I would recommend this series to anyone!
