Author of the Week, Valentina Heart, Interview & Giveaway!!

Valentina Heart

About the Author:

Valentina Heart lives at different locations in Split, at the coast of the Adriatic Sea. Like the directions of her stories her life takes a new twist with every passing year and she welcomes every single one.

As an avid reader for many years, she had a habit of mixing fiction with reality, until she realized that she could simply breathe life to her characters and make them as real as they could get. From forever romantic to deeply troubled, they bring joy to their creator as well as frustration with their naughty behavior.

Kinky imagination aside; she enjoys music and movies just as much as reading, but give her summer all year round and she’ll be ready to free climb, swim, or stretch in all those mind stirring yoga positions.

Interview with Valentina Heart

Holly: Hi Valentina! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Valentina Heart: I always kind of get stuck on these questions because I really don’t know what to say that one of my bios hasn’t covered already. My days mostly consist of working, reading and writing. If it’s summer I will leave a few hours to go for a swim or as it is the case lately – sleep on the beach under the morning sun. I live with my boyfriend in Croatia and can’t stand rain or the cold. I love everything when it comes to television and enjoy rock n’ roll and metal. Oh, and I have a birthday coming up;)

Holly: Can you tell us a little bit about your book Owner of my Heart?

Valentina Heart: Sure. It’s the second book in the Mending the Rift series about a royal couple of another species. In this one the readers can find the realization of the male pregnancy the first book revolved around and I do hope people end up liking it as much as they did the first one. I wanted to give a voice to Merin, to tell his side of the story and I felt it was best to make it a separate book. Rin and Merin will have their conclusion in the third one, where their equality will be even more pronounced and where both of them will have their say.

Holly: What was the inspiration for this novel?

Valentina Heart: I’ve wanted to write an mpreg story for a long time but never felt brave enough for it. It really is one of my favorite topics to read about and when the moment came that I felt romantic enough, I combined some of the plot twists I enjoy the most in the first story of the series. The second one – Owner of my Heart – was simply a continuation of the love story I felt the need to write. Like some of the readers, I fell in love with the world I’ve created and would like to revisit it even once this series is finished.

Holly: Where can we purchase Owner of my Heart?

Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2012?

Valentina Heart: Yes! Probably my favorite book and the first I ever wrote is scheduled for release on September 29th. Danny and Mike is novel length and it will be published by Silver Publishing, on their Acquired Tastes page since the content is a bit rough and definitely not for the faint hearted. After that there is As Spring Rain, which is a short story about twins, so also not something everyone will like but which I wanted to write. It will be published October 27th.
Holly: What is the hardest part of writing in your opinion?

Valentina Heart: Putting your ‘baby’ out there then facing harsh reviews. I mean it’s all a part of the process and the fact of the matter is that if you can’t face the negative side of writing you shouldn’t get into it at all, because there will be a harsh side to it, there always is. I’ve found that I take it to heart and usually have trouble writing once one of my books is out. It should be the happiest time, the book is out after months of hard work and the readers will finally be able to share the experience with you, but it’s usually double the stress as opposed to enjoyment. I often think of just withdrawing from the public scrutiny, but in the end I’m still here and still trying to get all my sequels out and make the readers as happy as I can.

Holly: If you are published with a publisher, how long did it take you to get published?

Valentina Heart: From the moment I started writing for the purpose of actually publishing something to actually having a book published I think a little over six months. I was really lucky in that regard.

Holly: What is your favorite part of writing?

Valentina Heart: Coming up with the idea and working it out in my head. That’s when the magic happens and I have all the freedom to make it as vivid as I want. I can spend days flipping over ideas and changing the story and that is usually the time when I’m the most enthusiastic and so eager to write it all down. Little can compare to that feeling of being able to do anything I want and seeing no limits to where I can take the story.

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Valentina Heart: Thank you for buying my books and taking the time to comment or review. It means a lot and I don’t have the words to say how much I appreciate it. Every positive email I receive is a huge surprise despite so many of my books already being out there and I do try to answer all of them. Kind words are an inspiration and very welcome.

Random Quickies!

Holly: When do you prefer to read?

Valentina Heart: All day lol Actually from the moment I wake up until after midnight when I can’t seem to keep my eyes open anymore. A bit of a junky I’m afraid;)

Holly: Vampires or Werewolves?

Valentina Heart: I used to be a bigger fan of vampires but over the years something changed and I have to go with werewolves now. Much more raw power and sexy instincts there.

Holly: Cats or dogs?

Valentina Heart: Cats. Can’t wait to get one. I think I actually dream about finally getting a cat.

Holly: Swimming pool or ocean/lake?

Valentina Heart: Definitely the ocean. I live by the sea after all. Too bad I have to work, otherwise I would be at the beach every day.
