Interview & Giveaway with Rachel Leigh, author of Hot Summer Sands!

Please help me welcome Rachel Leigh to Full Moon Bites and do not miss the giveaway of her book, Hot Summer Sands below! :)

Holly: Hi Rachel! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Rachel Leigh: Rachel Leigh lives in the UK and has been married to her own sexy hero for fourteen years.

With three novellas contracted with The Wild Rose Press, Rachel is busy writing her fourth. This is a voyage into the sensationalized and sexy world of British show jumping, featuring a fit and demanding horse trainer and a wily, inquisitive journalist who knows just what she wants and will do whatever it takes to get it.

When Rachel isn't writing, she's reading, watching TV, running around after her two daughters....or playing with her husband.

Holly: Can you tell us a little bit about your book Hot Summer Sands?

Rachel Leigh: It’s an erotic romance set on the Greek island of Zante – the hero and heroine are British expats who’ve escaped their unhappy lives in England, albeit separately. When they meet the chemistry between them is red hot from the very first moment. Here’s the blurb:

Chef Michelle Hutton flees her controlling mother in the UK for the sun and freedom of Greece, longing for a new beginning and maybe just a bit of Zante’s local heat. Sexy, pro-bono lawyer Sam Clarke might just be the one to teach her to let go. He's sexy, capable, and totally in control. And too damn hard to resist.

Sam Clarke and his best friend had once been the baddest boys to hit the local party scene— sex, booze, and more sex—until his friend is killed. Sam turned his back on the blatant sexuality of the island years ago, but can’t resist Michelle’s desire to bask in the sun and explore the need that grows between them.

Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

Rachel Leigh: The setting actually came first – my family and I holidayed in Zante a few years ago and I knew as soon as we landed I’d want to set a story there. Then came Michelle, my heroine - once she told me she was a chef, the story took off from there…

Holly: Where can we purchase Hot Summer Sands?

Rachel Leigh: The story is available right now from The Wild Rose Press. Here’s the link:

Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?

Rachel Leigh: I am about half way through novella number four which is set against the sexy, scandalous world of British show jumping. It’s amazing what an ambitious journalist desperate for the story that will launch her career, and a horse trainer with an axe to grind can get up to when they realize just how important they are to each other’s success.

Somebody is going to get burned…

Holly: Do you think you may ever go into another genre?

Rachel Leigh: I actually write mainstream romance under a different name – and no, I’m not revealing who! ;)

Holly: What is the hardest part of writing in your opinion?

Rachel Leigh: The hardest part for me is keeping the internal conflict real enough to carry the length of the story until that last moment that the hero or heroine realizes their point of change in order to have their Happily Ever After. It’s always so difficult not to throw them together and let them be happy without all their ugly baggage. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t make for a very exciting read!

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Rachel Leigh: Thanks for being here! I’d love to know what you look for in an erotic romance story – any preference on the type of hero? Heroine? Setting? I am already thinking about my next novella and would love some input!

Holly: What is the easiest part of writing in your opinion?

Rachel Leigh: The easiest part for me is draft two and three! I tend to write the first draft from start to finish without looking back which is very freeing but also results in a bit of a mess, lol! Having said that, this method entirely works for me. Come to draft two and I work like a machine, going through each page, cutting, editing and embellishing like a maniac. Come the end, I’ve usually got something my editor kind of likes J

Excerpt:

Closer and closer he came, rounding the counter and standing so close to her that Michelle was forced to tip her head back to meet his eyes. The smell of him – warm, musky and clean--wafted under her nose. She inhaled…and really wished she hadn’t as her knees quivered. She took another step back until her ass hit the steel countertop behind her.

His gaze darted over her face, lingering at her lips. Michelle put a hand on his chest without thinking and then whipped it back to grip the counter.

Trepidation mixed with arousal pooled like liquid in her stomach. “Sam, talk to me. What’s wrong?”

His eyes dropped to her chest and unmistakable lust flared in eyes, darkening them to a gorgeous midnight blue. Desire pulled at her core and her nipples tightened.

He met her eyes. “Everything.”

She was trapped by the raw animal need to have him. To feel his hands on her bare skin, his mouth on hers. She licked dry lips. “You look like you’re either going to attack me or--”

“Fuck you?”

She flinched. The harsh expletive shocked and aroused her in equal measure. “What?”

His hands clamped onto her hips, possessive and unyielding. A feral storm raged in his dark blue gaze. “I need to know.”

She stared, unable to move or breathe. “Need to know what?”

“Need to know if this…these feelings…are just--”

“Lust?” The word slipped from her tongue, her mind blank of everything but Sam. The way he smelled, the lickable square line of his jaw. The yearning to have him on her, in her, over her.

The corner of his mouth twitched and a little of the fiery frustration seeped from his eyes. “Exactly.”
