Interview & Giveaway with Nona Raines, author of One Good Man!
4:14 AM | Edit Post
Please help me welcome author Nona Raines to Full Moon Bites to talk about her book One Good Man! :)
Holly: Hi Nona! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Nona Raines: Thanks for having me today! I'm the author of four erotic romance novels and one short story. I'm also a former librarian, the owner (or should I say "owned by") multiple pets, and an all-around avid reader.
Holly: Your life is an action/suspense novel; your stuck on a ship and it’s about to blow. If it was just you, you would jump overboard and get away fast, but there are a few people that were being held captive on the ship too. What do you do?
Nona Raines: Okay, since I'm not in very good shape (no chance of beating the bad guys in hand-to-hand combat), I'm going to have to use my other assets. Namely my smarts and my dazzling beauty. See, I've been masquerading as a boy (I know I've read that plot twist in more than one novel). So when I reveal my true identity the bad guys are overcome with desire for me. They drop their weapons and plead to become my love slaves. I disarm the bomb (this is where the smarts come in), free the captives, and we sail to an uncharted island where I am crowned the queen.
Holly: Can you tell us a little bit about your book One Good Man?
Nona Raines: Sure. Here's the blurb:
Just one touch...that’s all Andie Benedetto wants when she glimpses her father’s sexy neighbor. Images of deep, long kisses and down and dirty sex heat up her fantasies. When he catches her watching him, she’s embarrassed but undeniably turned on.
Just one weekend...that’s all Matthew Vostek can offer Andie. He recognizes her shyness, but also senses her desire, the same desire he feels. Maybe they can fulfill each other’s hottest fantasies.
Just an adventure...that’s what Andie tells herself. Tired of playing the good girl, she’s ready to accept Matthew’s challenge and enjoy the most exciting sexual escapade of her life. But when the weekend is over, will Andie finally take what she wants instead of settling for second best?
Holly: What was the inspiration for this novel?
Nona Raines: I love the Hitchcock movie "Rear Window" and how the hero becomes involved in the lives of the people he watches. One Good Man is not a thriller, though. When Andie watches Matthew, she fantasizes about him as an escape from her humdrum life. When the opportunity comes to do more than watch, Andie has to decide if she has the courage to make her fantasy a reality.
Holly: Where can we purchase One Good Man?
Nona Raines: Here are the buy links: Barnes and Noble / Amazon / The Wild Rose Press / All Romance ebooks
Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2012?
Nona Raines: Very recently my fourth novel, Uncollared, was published by Loose Id. It's my first BDSM themed romance. I also have an upcoming FF erotic short story, Irresistible Impulse, coming from The Wild Rose Press. This story features Tania and Latisha, romantic partners who appear in One Good Man, and tells how they first met.
Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?
Nona Raines: I am currently working on an FFM ménage romance that I've titled His and Hers. I am also doing research for a book that I hope to write featuring two supporting characters from Uncollared.
Holly: Are you reading anything interesting at the moment? If so, what is it?
Nona Raines: I just finished Storm's Interlude by Vonnie Davis. The hero is a big handsome cowboy/ranch owner and the heroine is a compassionate but feisty nurse. It's a super-romantic story that makes you want to swoon, because the hero is so committed to "his woman" that he'll do anything to protect and take care of her.
Holly: What was your inspiration for this novel, or the series in general?
Nona Raines: As I wrote One Good Man, I grew interested in Matthew's brother Adam, and wondered why he was so soured on love. I decided to explore that in my following book, Take This Man. I also was fascinated by Kim Hansen, who was Adam's sometime girlfriend. Her story got told in Her Perfect Man.
Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?
Nona Raines: First of all, I'd like to thank them for reading my books! I try to write romances that are sexy, but also have a lot of emotion and some true-to-life situations. My characters have flaws, just as we all do, but by the end of their stories I hope readers can identify and sympathize with them.
Holly: What is your favorite part of writing?
Nona Raines: Getting to know your characters better, what they would and wouldn't do. It's fun bringing them to life.
Random Quickies!
Holly: Night or day?
Nona Raines: Morning.
Holly: Swimming pool or ocean/lake?
Nona Raines: Neither. I can't swim!
Holly: TV Shows or Movies?
Nona Raines: Movies—the older, the better.
Holly: Dark Chocolate or Milk Chocolate?
Nona Raines: Milk chocolate (yum).
Thanks again for letting me join you today!

Genre: Contemporary erotic romance m/f
The first thing Andie noticed when she entered the living room was the wide smile on Matthew’s face. The second thing was the all-too-familiar book on the coffee table.
“You...ah...what’s that?” She felt her heart thump erratically as she played dumb.
Matt gestured easily with his hand. “I think you know what it is.”
Her gaze flashed to his face.
“After all, I found it at your place. I wasn’t snooping,” he assured her quickly. “It was right there on the kitchen counter. I'd have been blind to miss it.”
“Uh-huh.” Andie was at war with herself. The scared Andie who liked to play it safe wanted to feel embarrassed. The other Andie, the one she became when she was with Matthew, wanted to look him in the eye and say so what?
“Dr. D’s Dictionary of Desire,” he read, then gave her a look. “Imagine my surprise to find it sitting right out in the open like a cookbook.”
“Imagine,” she murmured. She lifted her head and looked at him in challenge.
“It looks so informative, I didn’t think you’d mind if a borrowed it.”
“Not at all. And it is. Very informative.” Her voice was smooth.
“But I must say, I’m disappointed.”
Her tongue flicked her upper lip in a combination of nerves and lust. The smoky quality of his voice and his heavy lidded eyes were making her aware of the throbbing between her legs. “Disappointed?” she echoed.
“I’m disappointed you didn’t want to share it with me.”
Andie drew in a quick breath. Her flush grew deeper and her vision grew hazy from desire. Her voice sounded thick with longing. “We could share it now.”
Nona Raines became hooked on romances when she first picked up "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen Woodiwiss (and she's not telling how long ago that was). Romances may have changed since then, but her love for a good love story has not. She's been writing off and on for years, but it was only when she joined the Central New York Romance Writers Association that she finally gained the support and confidence she needed to complete a manuscript.
Nona lives in upstate New York with her many pets and is currently working on her next novel. A former librarian, she enjoys reading books of all genres and discussing them with others. She is thrilled to finally be able to call herself an author and looks forward to hearing from readers.
