I am very excited to have author Aubrie Dionne back at Full Moon Bites today for an interview about her book, Colonization! Also do not miss the excerpt and giveaway below! :)
Holly: Hi, Aubrie! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Aubrie Dionne: Sure! I’m a professional musician by day and a writer by night. I teach flute lessons and play recitals, then go home and type away!
Holly: Can you tell us a little bit about your book, Colonization?
Aubrie Dionne: This is a YA spin off of my very popular New Dawn series for adults. I’m so excited about this book. It is very dear to my heart because the characters are related to my New Dawn characters and I just had to know what happened to them when they reached
Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?
Aubrie Dionne: A little of both. I get a thematic idea and a few characters that would fit along with it, thengo from there. The minor characters pop in as I go!
Holly: You’re out demon hunting (because you’re that kind of awesome) and you come across one about to kill a young couple. He has not seen you yet; what is your first course of action?
Aubrie Dionne: Do I get superpowers? Because I’m not very strong or fast! LOL I think I’d call 911?
Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2013?
Aubrie Dionne: Oh yes! The sequel to Colonization will be coming out in May. Also, I have a contemporary romance about a flutist in an orchestra that falls in love with her conductor coming out in Feb from Entangled Publishing’s Bliss line!
Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?
Aubrie Dionne: Yes, yes, yes! I’m writing a contemporary romance about two scientists searching for the Loch Ness monster. I’ve done a whole ton of research on Loch Ness and Nessie, and I love the way this story is coming out.
Holly: Do you think you may ever go into another genre?
Aubrie Dionne: I started writing fantasy, then branched off into science fiction. When Entangled Publishing asked me to write a contemporary romance, I just about died. But, then I tried it, and I grew to love it so much I’m writing a second one!
Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?
Aubrie Dionne: Thank you for giving my books a try! I know time is precious to everyone, and I’m honored you spent time reading my books!

“Forbidden love on a paradise planet that’s anything but paradise...Dionne’s Colonization will keep you guessing.” – Cherie Reich, author of Defying Gravity
Finding a new home has never been so dangerous.
Andromeda has spent all seventeen years of her life aboard a deep space transport vessel destined for a paradise planet. Her safe cocoon is about to break open as Paradise 21 looms only one month away, and she must take the aptitude tests to determine her role on the new world and her computer
assigned lifemate. As a great-granddaughter of the Commander of the ship, she wants to live up to her family name. But, her forbidden love for her childhood friend, Sirius, distracts her and she fails the tests. The results place her in a menial role in the new colony and pair her with Corvus, “the oaf”.
But when Andromeda steps foot on
Paradise 21, her predestined future is the least of her
worries. Alien ghosts from a failed colonization warn her of a deadly threat to
her colony. And when Sirius's ship crashes on the far ridge in an attempt to
investigate, she journeys to rescue him with Corvus.
Andromeda now must convince the authorities of the imminent danger to protect her new home. What she didn't expect was a battle of her own feelings for Sirius and Corvus.
Can she save the colony and discover her true love?
"When Grandpapa spoke, his voice was weak despite the amplification of his throat mic. As the emergency portal dematerialized, a wash of humid air seeped in and I breathed in the heady scent of Paradise 21. The muggy tang of vegetation was heavy and sweet to the point of syrupy delirium. My nose tickled as if I’d stuck it right into the middle of a peach blossom and sniffed the pollen up to irritate my sinuses. I sneezed, then breathed again, trying to discern the complex fragrances mingling with the brine of the sea.
Dad led the way, stepping onto the plastic dock suspended three feet above the cresting waves. He gestured for me to follow, and I put a tentative foot on the platform. The grooves on the bottom of my space boots kept me from sliding. Mom followed behind. We were a trail of ants in a vast new place. This world could swallow us whole."
