! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself? Georgia
Georgia L. Jones: Hello! First of all, thank you having me here. I always appreciate the opportunity to talk about my writings and inspirations. As for a little about me, absolutely I will share. I live in
Southwest Missouri with my husband, child, and a big dog. I’m the owner of Aphrodite’s Hair & Nails,
a small business in … And…I write.
I enjoy anything doing anything creative and fun such as crafting
stories out of the ashes of legends, truths, and imagination. All in all, I just love life; every aspect of
it. Lebanon, MO
Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?
Georgia L. Jones: My readers are very important to me. I appreciate everyone who reads anything I write and love input of any kind from them. I feel so fortunate to share my stories and to have reached the people that I have. My message to my readers would be this: “Thank you for allowing me into your imagination for a time!”
Holly: When did you realize that you would like to write and publish a book?
Georgia L. Jones: Since I first began to read, I knew I wanted to write. I felt a certain wonder in getting lost in an unreal place and my imagination ran wild with excitement. I have actually written ever sinceI could. I easily recall as a young teen plunking out little stories on an old manual typewriter. I can’t remember a time that I didn’t harbor the dream of being published. It wasn’t until later that I decided to actually seek publishing. When I began the current series I am working on, (through a series of unforeseen events), I thought it was worthy of publishing. So, I began searching and found Blackwyrm Publishing out of
Holly: Can you tell us a little bit about your series, Remnants of Life?
Georgia L. Jones: Remnants of Life started with a single book, Legends of Darkness. As I was writing it I realized it was more than just one book. I had been thinking of the story for probably a year before I began putting it on paper but didn’t have the beginning. Once I found that, it just flowed out of me. I had Book 1, Legends of Darkness, written completely in six months. Legends launched on St. Patty’s Day this year,
March 17, 2012, and
Witches, Book 2 in the series will launch on December 1, 2012.
It actually starts with an average middle aged woman with a family and a full life. She dies unexpected and awakens to a whole new world. She has become Samoda a Warrior in the Army of Nuem with many special gifts and a destiny to become an Elder in the Army. The Warriors are an army of Vampire-like creatures who were made to destroy the demons that are constantly conspiring to take over the human world. They are similar to archangels.
The second book in the series, Witches, is from the human perspective. It delves into more intense world building and really shows a lot more human interaction with the other creatures, both good and evil. Of course the Warriors are still ever present and Samoda is further pressed with the responsibilities that she has taken on.
The series as a whole is to be five books long. Each book would be considered more in the genre of Urban fantasy, but the series as a whole will be Epic in nature.
Holly: Where can we purchase Legends of Darkness?
Georgia L. Jones: The print version of Legends of Darkness is available at any bookstore, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Literary Underworld, and of course Blackwyrm.com. The e-book version is available on Amazon for Kindle or the Kindle App.
Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2012?
Georgia L. Jones: Yes! As a matter of fact the second book in the Remnants of Life series, “Witches, will be launched on December 1st. I just got saw them in person for the first time today and they are quite impressive looking. The cover art is by Larry Elmore and it is exquisite.
Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?
Georgia L. Jones: I’m currently working on two different anthology projects as well as the third book in the series.
Holly: Do you think you may ever go into another genre?
Georgia L. Jones: I actually have ventured out of the fantasy realm and written a comedy short story. It is called “The Official 2012 Survival Handbook.” I wrote it under the name Smarty Mic Smartypants. It is a comedic take on the different scenarios of how the world will end this year.
Holly: What is your favorite part of writing?
Georgia L. Jones: I love every aspect of writing from the concept to the finished product and promoting it. But if I had to choose it would be the initial spark. When the idea first comes to mind and begins to grow. It’s like watching a seed become a plant and pop through the ground. When I first see the idea in my mind, I get a huge thrill. Next to that would be the moment your book first shows up in the mail. It’s just a huge feeling of accomplishment.
Holly: Witches or Zombies?
Georgia L. Jones: Witches definitely! I even named a book after them.
Holly: Ebook or hardcover/paperback?
Georgia L. Jones: Paper beats computer any day. I actually write the manuscripts for my books before I type them.
Holly: Favorite genre to read?
Georgia L. Jones: I like anything in the fantasy genre. I like taking vacations with my imagination.
Holly: Cats or dogs?
Georgia L. Jones: Dogs. I own an English Mastiff.
