Interview with H. David Blalock, author of Traitor Angel!
6:00 AM | Edit Post
Today we have author H. David Blalock with us talking about his new book Traitor Angel, the age-old question “Why do bad things happen to good people?" and his future book plans! :)
Welcome H. David Blalock!
Holly: Hi David! Would you tell
us a little bit about yourself?
H. David Blalock: I go by H. David Blalock. Call me what you like. I
have a thick skin. I am a retired air traffic controller and was born before
Sputnik. For those of you who don't know what Sputnik was, look it up!
Holly: When did you realize that
you would like to write and publish a book?
H. David Blalock: I have been a writer for as long as I can remember. Reading has always been a major part of my life and the
magic of storytelling one of my passions. It was only logical I should give as
much as I got.
Holly: Can you tell
us a little bit about your book Traitor Angel?
H. David Blalock: Traitor Angel is the second book in what I call the Angelkiller Triad. I am loath to call it a trilogy because,
hopefully, the way it is written each book can be a stand-alone with a story
arc spanning all three. Traitor Angel continues where the first book, Angelkiller,
left off. It carries on the story of the resistance cell's efforts to bring
down the megacorporation run by the main antagonist.
Holly: Which came first for you,
the characters or the plot?
H. David Blalock: The main character idea came first, then the plot and
the details. It very often happens to me that way. I get an idea about a
character, then weave a tale around who they are and what they want.
Holly: What was the inspiration
for this novel?
H. David Blalock: I wanted to answer the age-old question “Why do bad
things happen to good people?” This seemed like a good way to explain it.
Holly: Where can we purchase
Traitor Angel?
H. David Blalock: It's available from Seventh Star Press and for the
Kindle and Nook.
Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?
H. David Blalock: I appreciate my readers for many reasons, not just because they buy my work. I appreciate them because they continue to read my work in spite of the fact it doesn't always stick to the same style and they are not afraid to think. A lot of today's fiction is geared to the lowest common denominator (IQ) and would be insulting to the intelligence of the average reader twenty years ago. I appreciate that my readers are willing to share the adventure with me and come along for the ride, sometimes even taking the helm for a bit, rather than sleeping in the back row.
Holly: Can we expect more novels
from you in 2012?
H. David Blalock: Not this year. I do, however, expect to present two
in 2013 along with several short stories in various anthologies.
Random
Quickies!
Holly: When do you prefer to
read?
H. David Blalock: Anytime
Holly: Favorite genre to read?
H. David Blalock: Speculative fiction
Holly: Night or day?
H. David Blalock: Night
H. David Blalock: Both
In Traitor Angel, the second book of the Angelkiller
Triad, the war between The Army of Light
and The Enemy continues behind the scenes. Unknown to the general population,
the battle for control of humanity is heating up.
Jonah Mason, called Angelkiller, faces more than one
decision. His Army resistance cell is wounded physically and emotionally, on
the brink of falling apart. The mysterious allies calling themselves Knights
are pressuring him to abandon his people. Meanwhile, the world outside draws
closer to Armageddon.
As Mason and his friends pursue their campaign against Dorian
Azrael's global megacorporation, Andlat Enterprises, the stakes get higher with
each desperate foray into the enemy's computers. They are fated to lose one of
their number and gain an unlikely ally, but any advantage they gain could be
fleeting at best.
If they fail, it could mean the end of The Army and all
resistance to the forces of Darkness.
H. David Blalock has been writing speculative fiction for nearly
40 years. His work has appeared in print and online in over three dozen
publications, spanning every format from short stories to novels, non-fiction
articles to screenplays. He is also editor of _parABnormal Digest_ for Sam's
Dot Publishing. To find out more visit his website at www.thrankeep.com.
