Review: Cold Days (The Dresden Files #14) by Jim Butcher #FMBBooks

Title: Cold Days

*fan girl moment* I had missed this series so much! Especially with the way the last book, Ghost Story, ended!

Harry is back! And now the Winter Knight.

This book was different, I am not going to lie—I found myself longing for the old days (books) where Harry had never died or became the Winter Knight. I missed the people he surrounded himself with, how his life used to be and I wonder where the heck his cat Mister is at. (Mister does not make an appearance in this book).

However I cannot deny that I really liked this book to despite my waves of nostalgia.

Even being the Winter Knight now
, the Winter mantel (the thing that makes him the Winter Knight) that was passed to him tempting him to become a monster just like all the other Winter Knights of the past, Harry is fighting with everything he has to stay who he has always been—the good guy.

The plot of this book was pretty huge, and a major kick-off for future books. It sort of reminded me of the first book in a series—a rebirth of Harry Dresden. New plot, new dangers.

You can’t have Harry Dresden without lots of danger, ones that may kill millions, and only him to stop them. ;)

We do have old friends, though. A good many of past characters make an appearance in this book. Karrin, Butters, Molly, Mouse, Thomas and more. One person I really missed from the series that does not show up (other than Mister) was Gentleman Johnny Marcone. Seriously he has to be one of my favorite characters in the series. Even if he is kind of a bad guy.

Cold Days is pretty fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next while making me laugh at Harry’s ever present and at times ill advised/timed humor. There is a lot more coming Harry Dresden’s way by the end of the book and we barely scratched the surface of what is going on in Cold Days

I would highly recommend this book to fans of the Harry Dresden series. Things have changed sure, but Harry is still who he has always been deep down.

4 Moons!
