Today I am thrilled to have author Sasha Summers on Full Moon Bites for an interview. I recently read the second novel of her Red Carpet series, Hollywood Holiday and absolutely loved it!
Read on below for our interview, more about Hollywood Holiday, seducing nefarious criminals, upcoming books and more! :D
Holly: Hi Sasha! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Sasha Summers: Thanks so much for having me today! What can I tell you that’s interesting? Hmm, I’m kind of your average run-of-the-mill chick – married, kids, spend my days making up stories and creating fabulous imaginary people… J I know, I’m a very lucky run-of-the-mill chick.
Holly: Your life is an action/suspense novel; your stuck on a ship and it’s about to blow. If it was just you, you would jump overboard and get away fast, but there are a few people that were being held captive on the ship too. What do you do?
Sasha Summers: My immediate response is to seduce the ring-leader of the nefarious criminals holding captives, thenknock him out and free the others – which is completely implausible as I can injure myself walking down stairs (also a good indication of how seductive I am, right?)… BUT I AM a romantic fiction writer after all. ;)
Holly: Can you tell us a little bit about your book Hollywood Holiday?
Sasha Summers: Book One, Hollywood Ever After, was such fun – so full of great characters, that Hollywood Holiday kind of emerged. All of the old characters are back, but there is one or two new surprises in store. And the hero, Gunner, is glorious – yummy and funny and yummy… While the heroine, Jen, is this actress whose made some massive mistakes, the kind that an actress can’t really rebound from. Yet, somehow, she gets a second chance. Of course, it’s not that easy – I put Jen and Gunner through the ringer before the story is through. But it ends very nicely. Think snow, Christmas trees, and a sparkling present.
Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?
Sasha Summers: I’m a character driven author. If I don’t ‘get’ the characters, I can’t develop the plot.
Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2013?
Sasha Summers: Why, yes, I’m sooo glad you asked. I also have a SciFi Holiday story (you read that right) out Right Now. It’s loads of fun – in space. And 2013 will see Book 3 of the Red Carpet Series… and more.
Holly: Do you think you may ever go into another genre?
Sasha Summers: I have. I never thought about a story as being in one genre or the next, it’s just the characters that come forward. They are all romance – but I’m now published contemporary romance, historical fantasy romance, scifi romance, and will have my first YA out in 2013.
Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?
Sasha Summers: I LOVE you! I’m a new author – 2012 has been a very big year for me. The very best part has been connecting with people that love my books. I’m a reader too, so I know how awesome it is to love-love a book. And to know someone who’s not related to me loves my book is… wow… awesome. I hope I keep writing to your expectations.
Holly: What is the hardest part of writing in your opinion?
Sasha Summers: I think I mentioned that I can get stuck if my characters don’t reveal themselves to me. And when they don’t – it’s not fun – especially when deadlines are looming. So I have to step back and get to know them before I can dig in and write their story. How crazy does that sound? Very, I know. But, hey, it’s how I write. J
Holly: When do you prefer to read?
Sasha Summers: I will read ANYTHING – as long as someone I know has recommended it or the reviews are encouraging.
Holly: Witches or Zombies?
Sasha Summers: ZOMBIES!
Holly: Supernatural or Psych? (TV Shows)
Sasha Summers: BOTH please. Need my
boys (DEAN – sigh!) but Gus and Sean are too much
fun not to watch. Winchester
Holly: Favorite color?
Sasha Summers: Cobalt blue
Holly: Night or day?
Sasha Summers: I’m a creature of the night J
Holly: Dark Chocolate or Milk Chocolate?
Sasha Summers: Any kind of chocolate is the right choice.
Sasha Summers: Eek – both.
"My new favorite author is Sasha Summers. She's as addictive as chocolate." - Marcia King Gamble, National Best-Selling Author
All she wants for Christmas is for Hollywood to love her again. But once she meets him, her Christmas list changes.
Jen’s only Christmas wish: Hollywood falling back in love with her. Meeting ex-Marine Gunner was a bonus. She likes that he isn’t impressed by celebrities or the movie biz. She likes that he’s funny and sweet … and drop-dead gorgeous. And she loves that he has no idea who her alter-ego is: Jen Fleming, Hollywood bad-girl and paparazzi target number one. Why ruin an amazing affair when he’s leaving after the new year?
But the closer they get, the harder she falls, and the more she wants to tell Gunner everything. Especially once he shares his secret with her.
Her new Christmas wish: Gunner accepts and loves her for who she really is.
She wasn’t meant for movie stars,
, or happy
endings. And then she met him. Hollywood
Happy Endings are for fairy tales. Or the movies. Not for real life. At least, not in Claire’s life. Even though she’s starting over, she knows better than to want too much this time. But when she falls, literally, into the strong arms of Hollywood’s ‘it’ boy Josh Wiley, Claire’s in for some surprises. Her plans for rest and relaxation are forgotten as one incredible night with Josh becomes two… And her heart begins to want him as much as her body. Will two kids, one bastard ex-husband, and Josh’s juggernaut career mean the end of their affair? Or can Claire find her happy ending after all?
Sasha is part gypsy. Her passions have always been storytelling,
, history, and
travel. It’s no surprise that her books include a little of each. Her first play, ‘Greek Gods and Goddesses’ was
written for her Girl Scout troupe. She’s
been writing ever since. She loves getting lost in the worlds and characters she creates; even if she frequently
forgets to run the dishwasher or wash
socks when she’s doing so. Luckily, her four brilliant children and hero-inspiring hubby are super understanding
and supportive. Hollywood
