Interview & #Giveaway with Harlie Williams, author of The Couple! #FMBBooks

Click the banner for more tour dates!

Holly: Hi! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself? :)

Harlie Williams: I live a very boring life.  Stay at home mom and I’m a married woman with a very active 2nd grade boy.  Born in the great state of Oklahoma and raised in Dallas, TX.  I now live in East Texas with hubby and son.  Love it.  Wouldn’t live a big city again.  I hate traffic.

Holly: Do you write an outline before starting a book or just write?

Harlie Williams: What is this outline that you speak of?  I know nothing of an outline.  Honestly, I just sit down and right.

Holly: How do you market your book(s)?

Harlie Williams: If I knew that I would be a genius and rich.  I’m not very good at the whole promo on social media.  I don’t “over share” with all of my FB friends; remember I’m boring.  I find the whole promo thing on FB intimidating.

Holly: Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?

Harlie Williams: Well, I’m an owner of my own review site and the biggest challenge has been getting people to see me as an author, not a reviewer.

Holly: I know authors get asked this a lot but do you have any advice that you would give to aspiring writers?

Harlie Williams: Write, write and keep writing…  J

Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

Harlie Williams: The plot…

Holly: What was the inspiration for this novel?

Harlie Williams: Phil and Claire from the television show Modern Family.  We love that show at our house.

Holly: Where can we purchase this book?

Harlie Williams: It’s everywhere:  Amazon, B&N, Bookstrand, Kobo, All Romance and Muse It Up Publishing.

Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?

Harlie Williams: Actually a
contemporary and a romantic suspense with a paranormal element woven throughout.

Holly: How much of you or people you know do you think make it into the characters in your novel(s)?

Harlie Williams: The Couple is dedicated to my cousin and her husband.  They married right out of high school and they are still married 34 years later with two adult sons and now first time grandparents.  J  I modeled the characters after them.

Holly: Do you think you will have a follow up book to this novel or is it just a stand-alone novel?

Harlie Williams: It’s a standalone for now.

Holly: What is the easiest part of writing in your opinion?

Harlie Williams: Actually editing.  I’m weird.  I loved my editor and for me it was a learning experience.

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Harlie Williams: Thank you so much for stopping by today.  It means a lot to a newbie author.  J

Holly: Do you have any upcoming appearances that you would like to share with us?

Harlie Williams: Actually I will be my RWA Chapter conference in Dallas, TX March 28-30.  It’s my first ever conference.

Random Quickies!

Holly: Pepsi or coke?

Harlie Williams: Pepsi but don’t tell my brother.  He is a district manager for Coke.  Shhhh….

Holly: Favorite kind of chocolate?

Harlie Williams: Dark

Holly: Cats or dogs?

Harlie Williams: Both but I’m allergic to cats.  L

Holly: Favorite move?

Harlie Williams: Star Wars Trilogy.  Original, please

Holly: Favorite book or author?

Harlie Williams: Shadow Dance by Julie Garwood or Mackenzie’s Mountain series by Linda Howard.  For me, it’s easy.  J

*Interrupting the interview*

Holly: OMG! I love all of Julie Garwood’s historical romances! I reread them all the time! :)

*Back to the interview*

Holly: How many paperback/hardcover books do you own?

Harlie Williams: A couple of huge totes.

Holly: Right now in your line of site, how many books can you see?

Harlie Williams: 5

Holly: Do you own a laptop or desktop computer?

Harlie Williams: Both but I write on my laptop.

Holly: If laptop what kind do you own and would you recommend it to other authors?

Harlie Williams: I have a HP 2000 and I love it.

Holly: What book are you reading today?

Harlie Williams: Muscle for Hire by Lexxie Couper

A woman has one thing on her mind tonight…sex. Dirty, sweaty, kinky sex with a cowboy. With her man gone more than he is at home, she needs the release.

After being away for two weeks, a cowboy goes looking for someone to play with for the night. Being away is part of the job but not having someone to come home to is hurting his soul. Feeling disconnected in his love life, the red head will be perfect.

Once they meet, can one night of pure passion led to more than just a one night stand for either of them? Communication is the key to every relationship. Can these two find a way to connect emotionally or are they destined for heartache.

Warning: This title is intended for readers over the age of 18 as it contains adult sexual situations (including BDSM/light bondage) and adult language and may be considered offense to some readers.

“What’s a girl like you doing at a bar like this?” he asked.

Her voice was a purr, like a cat well satisfied with its stolen pitcher of cream. “I’m looking for someone special.”

Hoping that she meant him he asked, “Did you find him yet?”

“Maybe.” The glint in her eye told him he was definitely in the running.  However, I’m not looking to hook up with just any old cowboy.  He must be able to go the full eight seconds and come back for more.”  She eyed him from head to toe.  “Think you can handle that?”

Oh, I can most definitely handle you sweetheart.

Not wanting to seem too eager he replied, “I’m not sure but I’m willing to try.”

“Do or do not.  There is no try.”  He struggled not to let his grin escape.  The fact that she was trying to seduce him made his dick twitch.

“Let’s just say I’m looking to burn off some pent up frustration. A little excess energy.  And I’ve got plenty to burn.”

The way she shivered at his words, he knew he almost had her.  He winked as she licked her crimson lips and blew out a small breath.  Damn what this woman is doing to him

He pushed her knees apart with his left leg and was rewarded with the amazing scent of her arousal.  The knowledge she was wet for him had him close to going off in his jeans.

Houston, we have lift-off!

“Why don’t you have a seat cowboy and we’ll talk about it.”

She gasped when he shocked her with a brush of his lips against hers; fighting with everything he had not to deepen the kiss.

Patience, patience.

He would play her game for the moment but sooner or later, she would be his.  Tied up and begging for more.

He asked her, “Now about that eight second ride?”

I’m just a city girl living in a small East Texas town. As a child, I devoured books but writing a book was never in the equation. Teaching literature to high school students was my goal. After being in a corporate cube for over 25 years, I’m a stay at home mom. I started writing as a dare and here I am. I’m married to my own hero and a mother to an awesome son. He has no idea that his momma wrote a book. He just knows that momma spends a lot of time on the computer.
