Interview with JoAnne Kenrick, author of Threesome Sweetness! #FMBAuthor

Holly: What do you do when you are not writing?

JoAnne Kenrick: Not too often there is a time that I'm not writing these days. But on that odd occasion, I am a complete movie and tv nut. Especially paranormal-esk type shows or anything vampires

Holly: Do you write an outline before starting a book or just write?

JoAnne Kenrick: I just write.  I fly by the seat of my pants and fast draft a story right until the very end. Then comes lots of edits and revisions and layering. I've tried plotting; I got bored of writing the story because I knew the ending.

Holly: I know authors get asked this a lot but do you have any advice that you would give to aspiring writers?

JoAnne Kenrick: Get a published author who writes in a similar genre to  you to look at your work; critique partners or beta readers. You need those extra set of eyes to tell you where your story isn't working..and of course where it is. Also, I recommend the usual of reading lots; both in your chosen genre and non-fiction craft books. Join writer groups on Facebook and follow @angelajames on twitter for her  edit reports (those are a must for romance authors - gives you a chance to see what genres/topics are current, editors turn-offs and turn-ons)

Holly: When did you realize that you would like to write and publish a book?

JoAnne Kenrick: When I was first published with a non-fiction article about Psychic Art. Seeing your name and words in print is quite a thrill.

Holly: Can you tell us,in your own words a little about your book?

JoAnne Kenrick: This is the first in the Irish Kisses series, and focuses on two main characters who need a little help adding spice back into their marriage. Elizabeth is a busy lass; a student and a part-time manager for Bell's Irish Pub. When she's not working or studying, she's shopping or telling her husband about her fantasy of having a threesome.
Her birthday is coming up, and as she has everything she wants, on a whim he arranges her fantasy using Madame Eve's 1Night Stand agency.
Only the fantasy was something
she'd rather have kept in her imagination… so it takes some coaxing for her to join in the birthday party games.
We also get to know the third wheel, and why he used the agency; so he could see the benefits of a committed relationship between man and wife.

Here's the blurb…
A shot of Threesome Sweetness stirs up emotions….Elizabeth, a part-time manager of Bell’s Irish Pub and business student, is newly hitched. Her marriage could use a serious shake up, but she finds shopping a more therapeutic use of her time.
If Todd’s wife is happy, he’s happy. But it seems nothing is putting a sweet smile on her face these days, not even her friends at Bell’s. So he contacts 1NightStand and arranges the one thing he knows she doesn’t necessarily want but definitely needs for her thirtieth birthday; a threesome.
Enter cowboy Cade, who’s in London, England hoping to make a restaurant franchise deal. After weeks of doors slamming shut, he uses the 1Night Stand agency in hopes of sprinkling some fun over his overseas business trip and perhaps to learn what he’s missing out on by being relationship shy.
A harmless night of intimacy is planned.
Is a dash of Threesome Sweetness the remedy each is looking for, or will the date leave a bitter aftertaste each will regret for the rest of their lives?

Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

JoAnne Kenrick: The Characters came first -- The Irish Kisses series was born of setting first and then character but each subsequent story started with the characters. And the same can be said for each of my stories. I'm character driven; they dictate the plot to me, and quite often the location, too.

Holly: Where can we purchase this book?

JoAnne Kenrick: Where most ebooks are sold
USA Price: 2.99
ALL ROMANCE
AMAZON US
BOOK STRAND
NOOK
UK Price: 2.32
AMAZON UK

Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2013?

JoAnne Kenrick: Yes, I've got a very busy writing schedule for 2013 ahead.

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

JoAnne Kenrick: Huge thanks to all of you who have reached out and expressed your joy for my little stories, you have no idea how much a rating or a review (no matter how short) means to us authors. It's why we do this gig! So it's awesome that so many of you take the time to spread the word about the stories you love to your friends and online acquaintances. Also, thanks for giving my work a chance; it's because you're purchasing and reading my books that I continue to write. So keep reading and I'll keep on writing.

Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?

JoAnne Kenrick: A paranormal trilogy set on the Isle of Man, hopefully I'll have news to share on this soon. Also, I'm mid-way through a contemporary novella set in London.

JoAnne Kenrick: Cats. I have two.

Holly: Do you read more than you write?

JoAnne Kenrick: Opposite.

Holly: Favorite book to movie?

JoAnne Kenrick: Hunger Games

Holly: Favorite book or author?

JoAnne Kenrick: Anne Rainey's Blackwater series and, yes AND, Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series.

Holly: Hardback/Paperback or eReader?

JoAnne Kenrick: eReader all the way!

Holly: Why do you like eReaders more?

JoAnne Kenrick: Paper/hardbacks make my hands cramp. i can only carry one of those with me at a time. And I can't stand the feel of paper against dry hands. Ewww.

Holly: Favorite color?

JoAnne Kenrick: Red or deep purple

Holly: Right now in your line of site, how many books can you see?

JoAnne Kenrick: 4

Holly: Do you own a laptop or desktop computer?

JoAnne Kenrick: Both

Holly: If laptop what kind do you own and would you recommend it to other authors?

JoAnne Kenrick: Mac.
Better for writing with, but darn those programs are expensive compared to Windows programs. That's one major downside to being a Mac owner.  Would I recommend it? Depends what you want it for. As an author, no. Too expensive. But if you browse the internet a lot while your writing (like I do) then yes. Facebook doesn't give me viruses anymore like it did when I was using a windows laptop. But I still need a windows pc when those edits come in so I can see the track changes options.

Holly: What book are you reading today?

JoAnne Kenrick: I just finished Love Me or Leave Me by Stephanie Draven, and it gave me a real jonesing for more 20s romance  and am now waiting for Stephanie's next 20s book to be released (probably already out by the time this interview is posted so go look for it ;) they're HAWT and seriously well written).

Holly: Have you ever been out of the state where you live?

JoAnne Kenrick: Oh my. If anyone ever answers no to that question, tell them to hop into a car and cross their state line! Travel broadens the horizons, really, it does. That's why I have so many ideas for stories ;) I'm Welsh, grew up in North Wales. Moved to England, Scotland, Australia, Minnesota and now live in North Carolina. I should think I've got enough material to last me a life time and then some ;)

is three company or a crowd?
Strutting the length of the suite, he wore nothing but a cowboy hat and a smile. Cocky bastard. She had insisted he leave it on. Heat twisted and turned within, saturating her inside out as she skimmed the length of him from behind her lashes. From his ruggedly handsome face and strong jaw line, to the beads of sweat glistening on his rippled chest, she was tempted to trace her hand over his ass.
He turned his head and set his gaze upon her, looking like one of those heroes from one of Sandra’s romance covers. Except without pants. Her pulse quickened.
“Ma’am.” He dipped his hat, shading his stare with the dark shadow caused by the rim of the Stetson. “Said you wanted more excitement in your life on your 1Night Stand profile. I hope I don’t disappoint you.”
“And what did ya 1Night Stand profile say about ya, pray tell?” She leaned against her husband, trying to seem casual. Adrenaline pumped through her hard and fast, calmed slightly by Todd’s touch. He stroked her side, gentle, reassuring.
“That I’m a businessman in town looking for some serious, clean fun.”
“Don’t people like ya use a card stuck ta a phone box when ya want a shag on a business trip?” She stumbled over her interrogation, desperate to find something wrong with him, a reason why they shouldn’t progress with their evening together.
“Stop questioning the man. He’s not here to chit-chat.” Her husband kissed her cheek, “And if you really don’t want this, we can end it now. Whatever you want, Beth.”
“It’s fine. She wants this. She wants to know it’s all good, clean fun. I understand. Better to be upfront about these things and get them out of the way.” He shrugged. “But you misunderstood me. I don’t want a meaningless one-night stand. I want the experience to mean something.” His tone softening, he strolled to her side. “Something special verses a quick fuck, you understand?”
She snorted. “Why on earth would ya think a married couple could give ya...something special?” Dipping his hand under the collar of her dress, he eased the material from her shoulder while unzipping her. Her outfit skimmed her body on its way to the floor. The room temperature was tepid, yet chills raced up her spine. She wanted to grab his wrist, to scream at him to stop. Yet no matter how awkward he made her feel, she could not get away from the fatal attraction she had for him. She should play nice; after all, this was her birthday present and she might hurt dear Todd’s feelings if she didn’t try to enjoy every second of it.
“I’m going to give you guys a minute alone to get acquainted.” Her husband strode to the en-suite bathroom and shut the door behind him, leaving her alone with this...man.
It wasn’t going to be an easy thing to choreograph, keeping two men happy.

JoAnne Kenrick grew up in a small sea-side town in North Wales. Having experienced life in several different countries, she now lives in North Carolina with her husband, two children and a lazy cat. When they aren’t demanding her attention, she can most likely be found watching a vampire movie, reading, or baking up a British feast in her kitchen. And if she isn't in one of those spots, she is probably hiding in her writer's cave.
