Interview with Dani R.R. Hermit & Nevi Star, authors of Monster! #FMBAuthor
2:43 AM | Edit Post
Please help me welcome author's Hermit & Nevi Star to Full Moon Bites today! :)
Holly: Hi!
Would you tell us a little bit about yourself? :)
Nevi & Hermie: We're a pair of writers who
have founded our own publishing label because we became frustrated at the list
of no-no's on every publishing website that made us ineligible for publication
with literally every company Hermie found to submit to. Nevi Star is our resident artist as well as
being half of the writing team. She does
all the cover work and official art on the websites. Dani R.R. Hermit, affectionately known as
Hermie, lives to write. She has some
stories of her own that she's working on while she's writing the Parliament of
Twilight books with Nevi.
We've been together for 13
years as of this last September and have been enjoying all the perks of
living-in-sin love as well as writing together.
We're looking forward to when we can get married, though the
living-in-sin lifestyle does have its perks! ;)
Holly: Is
there an author or book that influenced you or your writing in any way growing
up or as an adult?
Hermie: I read The
Slave by Laura Antoniou when I was a freshman or sophomore in high school and
it changed my perception of what a book could be.
Holly: I
know authors get asked this a lot but do you have any advice that you would
give to aspiring writers?
Hermie: Write! Just write and write some more!
Nevi: Remove all
video games and other distractions from your computer. And don't "pad your word counts,"
especially by killing characters.
Hermie: Let the
story tell itself. Let it surprise you
in the first draft. You can always fix
it in the re-writes and edits.
Holly: Can
we expect more novels from you in 2013?
Nevi: Oh, hell yes!
We put out Ghost House #1 just a couple weeks ago.
Hermie: And we have
3 more books scheduled to be released before the end of the year. Inertia #1 in June, Monster #2 in September
and Ghost House #2 in December.
Holly: Why
this genre(s)?
Hermie: Mostly
because everything I write always ends up with graphic sex scenes dominating
the plot line. Erotica is the only genre
that'll have me!
Nevi: I was
corrupted by Hermie.
Holly: What
is the hardest part of writing in your opinion?
Nevi: Getting
Hermie to turn off Plants vs. Zombies or whatever stupid game she has on her
laptop now and get to work!
Hermie: The editing
and proofreading parts are the worst.
Though picking writing over the multitude of distractions is really
hard, too. We're always like "oh,
we'll just watch 2 or 3 episodes of One Piece then we'll do our afternoon
writing." Then next thing we know,
it's 7am and Seth is getting home from her third shift at the
hotel!
Holly: What
is the easiest part of writing in your opinion?
Hermie: The writing
itself. It's the editing, proofreading,
re-writes, editing some more, formatting, re-writing again, etc. that takes its
toll on my mind, moral and eyes!
Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?
Hermie: Don't judge me! I'm actually a very nice person, no matter what our characters try to tell you!
Nevi: Thank you for reading our books! I hope you have as much fun as I did writing them! (also, as a sidenote, my wang is unstoppable!)
Holly: If
you are self-published, why did you decide to take this route of publishing?
Nevi: Have you read our book?
Hermie: We systematically eliminated publishers by
using their "no-no" lists.
After a couple of months of searching publishers and getting nowhere,
our only options were to never be published or do it ourselves.
Random Quickies!
Holly: Favorite
kind of chocolate?
Nevi: Hermie's
homemade candies! Especially the dark
chocolate ones with root beer cream filling!
Holly: Favorite
book to movie?
Hermie: Either Lord
of the Rings or the Hunger Games. I
don't know that I can choose!
Nevi: Hunger Games
and the Neverending Story.
Holly: Favorite
book or author? Yeah we know it’s hard to choose! ;)
Hermie: Laura Antoniou
Nevi: Stephen King
and Cassandra Clare
Holly: Hardback/Paperback
or eReader? Why do you like eReaders
more?
Nevi: eReader! Because now I have a
library in my pocket and the bookstore never closes!
Holly: How
many paperback/hardcover books do you own?
Hermie: Umm, a lot?
Nevi: Enough that
we need an eReader!
Holly: Right
now in your line of site, how many books can you see?
Hermie: Right now, I
can see at least 100 and I'm not even in the "library", aka the
dining room.
Holly: What
book are you reading today?
Hermie: A Game of
Thrones by George R.R. Martin, though I'm nearly done so it'll be something
else soon.
Nevi: I was
studying Urban Shaman by Serge Kahili King and A Spiritual
Approach to Astrology by Myrna Lofthus.

Blurb
It’s
been years since Siris and Julian’s boy band broke up and they all went their
separate ways. Now they’ve run in to each other in a little redneck bar in the
middle of nowhere, coming face to face with the ghosts of their past and the
feelings they never quite grew out of.
Siris
is here handing out golden tickets to some new reality TV show for the network
that owns his record label. Julian is here to meet up with yet another new
partner. On the surface it seems like a coincidence… or is it?
Neither
man is happy when they realize that The Parliament of Twilight, who once ruled
their lives, means for Siris to be Julian’s new partner. Julian worries about
what he could do to Siris. Siris just wants to go back to being a mega pop star
and has no interest in being a monster hunter. Thrown together against their
will (and better judgment) how will these former friends do on their first
case?
Warning: This title is intended for
readers over the age of 18 as it contains explicit sex scenes and/or situations
(including BDSM/Light Bondage) and adult language, and may be considered
offensive to some readers.

Julian was
hungry. Bordering on starved. He wasn't anywhere near strong enough to hold
his own in a bar fight. Certainly not
strong enough to control his hunger and therefore keep anyone who faced him out
of danger.
Under normal
circumstances, he would never be here.
This was a place where feeding was out of the question, no matter how
long it had been since he had a proper meal.
Ironically, it was his hunger that had put him on the path ending
here. He was under orders to meet his
new partner. It had been less than a
month since the incident that made his most recent partner demand to be
reassigned. It hadn't taken the
Parliament of Twilight long to honor his request and put Julian on temporary
inactive duty while they sorted out Richard's claim of abuse. He had thought the break would be nice. Some time to gather his thoughts and get
himself feeling normal again.
Dani
R.R. Hermit (affectionately called Hermie) and Nevi Star, are the writers who
founded Wandering Stars Press.
What do we write, you ask?
Our
genre is gay erotica, with a spice of horror, mystery, comedy, drama and
sometimes a western or space opera. We
love boys loving boys (in all the wrongest ways). If you love that too, then maybe we can be
friends. Both Hermie and Nevi have some
solo projects in the works, but more on those as they develop. You can stay up to date on the news from
Wandering Stars Press on our blog
or Facebook.
Who are we when we’re not writing?
We’re
life partners who’ve been together 13 years through all of life’s ups, downs
and craziness. Ours has been a long and sometimes arduous road, but it’s only
made the journey deeper and more interesting, adding fuel and fire to the
stories we can tell.
Nevi
is a spirit artist and a shaman. She is a World Walker. Nevi also does all the covers for WSP's books.
She is currently working on a
post-apocalyptic pony novel of her own, a My Little Pony themed tarot deck and
a spirit squirrel oracle deck.
Hermie
has been studying tarot for 20 years and reading professionally for a small,
private clientele for about 13 years. She is also a genius at making sweet
treats – homemade candies, cookies, cupcakes. (All gluten free!) She does all
the cooking for our little pirate crew (or we would all starve or poison
ourselves lol) and loves her neurotic kitten.
What inspires us?
Our first love and inspiration is Japanese Anime &
Manga! We discovered Yaoi and it was all
over. We already had a love affair with
slash fan fiction, so taking that to some anime based fics really developed our
style into what it is today. A close
second is music. We create playlists
that are character, story-arc or novel specific and play them at top volume
while we are driving, writing and sleeping! We do karaoke in our living room as a means to
cleanse our story demons and open up to the next day's work (and because it's a
blast to get together with our pirate crew and sing our hearts out!). But we
also love TV, movies and books. You can
see which albums, shows, series, etc. are our favorites by following our board
on Pinterest.
