Interview with Lindy S. Hudis, author of The S&M Club! #FMBAuthor

Please help me welcome author Lindy S. Hudis to Full Moon Bites to talk about her book, The S&M Club, her writing process, upcoming books and more! :)

Holly: Please tell us a bit about yourself.

Lindy S. Hudis: First of all, thank you for having me – I love interviews because I love to talk about my work. I am a wife and mother of two from California. My husband is a stuntman and crashes cars and jumps off buildings for a living. Right now we have a film production company and we are in the process of producing our first feature film called “SkateGod” , it’s about a skateboarder is a futuristic, dystopian world who discovers that he is a Greek God. So, we have our hands full with our movie.  Check it out at:
www.ImpactMotionPictures.com

Holly: Do you write an outline before starting a book or just write?

Lindy S. Hudis: No, I don’t. I tried the outline thing and I just didn’t pay any attention to it. I started with little post-its all around, but it became more or a nuisance than anything else. Now I just let my characters show me the way, they tell me what to do, so to speak. I just wing it, and write that way, I feel the most comfortable when I just trust my instinct and don’t second guess myself.

Holly: Is there an author or book that influenced you or your writing in any way growing up or as an adult?

Lindy S. Hudis: Judy Blume! I loved her! I grew up reading her books, and I learned a lot about, um….life from them, too. I think she was my first inspiration. I just fell in love with her writing and stories. I started having fantasies of becoming a writer from her.

Holly: Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?

Lindy S. Hudis: I could paper my wall with all the rejection letters. I remember the day I got my first publishing contract. On that same day I got a particularly
mean spirited rejection letter. This person sent the generic rejection letter, but hand wrote a pretty nasty note about how my book sounded “boring” . I was pretty upset. However, later that day I received an email from a publisher offering me a contract. So, it is a pretty crazy process…

Holly: I know authors get asked this a lot but do you have any advice that you would give to aspiring writers?

Lindy S. Hudis: Don’t give up- there is a publisher out there for you and readers who want to hear your stories. It is just and issue of finding them and being persistent.

Holly: Can you tell us, in your own words a little about your book?

Lindy S. Hudis: “Crashers” is a work of crime fiction about a trio of young people who get caught up in the seedy world of auto insurance fraud by staging car accidents.
“Weekends” is a romance/suspense about a family who gathers at a beautiful beach resort for the weekend while a deranged killer is on the loose.
“The S & M Club” is an erotic short story anthology about a beautiful lesbian couple who experience the pleasures and forbidden world of bondage.

Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

Lindy S. Hudis: The plot, then the characters, however,  I let my characters come to life and tell the story and use me as the instrument. I know that may seem strange, but I think every writer tends to exist in the little worlds we create.  I know I do. Perhaps that is because I come from an acting background and I am used to developing characters that way, but I tend to let the characters reveal the plot to me.

Holly: Where can we purchase this book?

Lindy S. Hudis: Please visit my website : www.CrashersBook.com  or you can visit me on Amazon.

Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2013?

Lindy S. Hudis: My next novel, “City of Toys” is a work of fiction inspired by my years as an aspiring actress in Los Angeles, should be released in late 2013.

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Lindy S. Hudis: Yes, thank you for reading my book, seriously though – I love books and know the feeling of getting lost in that world. I want to thank my readers for enjoying my creativity and work. If my work can make somebody feel inspired, make them think, or just ease the boredom on a plane ride, then I have done my job.

Holly: Are you working on anything at the moment?

Lindy S. Hudis: Right now we are working on our film project, and our screenplays. I am so busy with things that sometimes I lose track, but I like to stay busy. I am also teaching my kids how to skateboard, because they both want to be in the movie. I’m not a very athletic person, but my husband it, coming from a stunt background. As far as writing goes, I always have ideas floating around in my head, it is just an issue of having the time to type it all out, so I just live with these little worlds inside my head, pretty nutty huh?
