Book Description:

Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
Mercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman—the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack—has made her a stepmother to his daughter Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy’s life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more…

After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can’t reach Adam—or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They’ve all been abducted.

Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam’s disappearance may be related—and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely.

Mercy is back in and getting in just as much trouble as ever in this fast-paced seventh installment of the Mercedes Thompson series, Frost Burned!

This has to be one of the best Mercedes Thompson novels to date! Mercy
seemingly always finds herself up against bigger and more powerful enemies. Frost Burned is no different.

In this thrilling new novel Adam (Mercy’s husband and Alpha of the local pack) has been kidnapped (wolfnapped?) along with his pack. The only one who does not get caught is Ben who comes to warn Mercy and Jesse, Adam’s daughter and her new stepdaughter.

Following the other books in this series, werewolves are out now to the public and there are a lot of political things going on as they try to gain acceptance (something the Fae still has not received it would seem). Mercy believes the wolfnapping has something to do with this and sets out to find Adam.

One danger follows after another as Mercy tries to find out what has happened. However, with the pack gone and all of the werewolves she knows out of communication Mercy has to take allies where she can find them; even if they may be more dangerous than those who took Adam.

This seventh installment does differ from past books of the series in the point-of-view. While we have always gotten Mercy’s POV, in Frost Burned we get a little bit of Adam’s POV as well which was, I think, amazing! I have always found Adam a very intriguing character and getting into his head a little bit has only made me more curious than ever about him.

With an eighth book in the works, Night Broken (2014), I most sincerely hope this will not be out last peak into Adam’s head.

Overall Frost Burned is a thrilling and absolutely wonderful addition to the Mercedes Thompson series. It kept me engrossed until the very last page—and left me wanting more. I cannot wait for more from Patricia Briggs

5 Moons!
