Holly: What I want to know is if
you couldn't write, what would you do?
Stacey Rourke: I’d be a space cowboy. A
gangster of love. I’d make people call me Maurice. I’d speak of the pompitous
of love.
Holly: What was the first book you
ever read?
Stacey Rourke: I can’t remember the name
but I do know that in Chapter One he loves her, he loves her with all his
heart. In Chapter Two he tells her they’re never, ever, ever going to part.
Chapter three—super steamy—they find out the meaning of romance. In Chapter
Four, they break up. But then give it just one more chance. I stopped reading
after that.
Holly: Do you read all your
reviews? How do you react to negative reviews?
Stacey Rourke: I see those reviews tearing
down the books I wrote and I’m like forget you. I guess my snarky humor and
fight scenes weren’t enough and I’m like forget you and forget her too.
Holly: How many times have you
received rejection letters?
Stacey Rourke: 1-2-3-4-5 everybody in the
car, so come on let’s ride to the liquor store on corner …
Holly: What would you like people
to know about your writing?
Stacey Rourke: I write the songs … I mean
books … that make the whole world sing.
I write the songs –dang, it
I mean books!—of love and special things.
I write the ssson…BOOKS that
make young girls cry.
I write the songs—friggin’
Manilow!! He writes the songs! I write the books!
Holly: How do you juggle being a
parent/family and writer/Publishing company owner?
Stacey Rourke: It’s really a jungle. We’ve
got
fun and games. We’ve got pretty much everything we want, and usually
remember each other’s names. In the jungle, welcome to our jungle. Watch out
for the munckins running around. They’ll bring you to your knnnne, knnnne,
knees.
Holly: How much of you shows up in
your characters? How about your friends & family?
Stacey Rourke: When my family was my
strength when I was weak, When they were my voice when I couldn't speak,
they’ve been my eyes when I couldn't see, lifted me up when I couldn't reach,
they really do give me faith because THEY believe. My characters—and myself—are
everything we are because they love me.
I may have been be silly
with this whole answering in song lyrics idea, but this last one is very true.
The only reason my writing and my career are what they are is because of the
love and support of my family and friends. Thank you all.

Celeste Garrett has finally found a happy balance in her life as the Chosen One, thanks in large part to a certain hunky Irishman. But if there’s any lesson she should heed since receiving her calling it’s that everything can change in the blink of an eye. Soon a terrible new threat, unlike anything she’s ever encountered, causes her to make a gut-wrenching choice that will strip her of someone she holds dear.
As much as she’d like to have a pity party for one, there’s no time for that now because wedding bells are ringing in Gainesboro! In between dress fittings and rehearsal dinners Celeste will have to fend off attacking demons and leering pirates. As if the Dark Army wasn’t scary enough our heroine is faced with the horrifying trauma of attending a bachelorette party with her mom and watching Grams do Jello shots. Is a walk down the aisle even possible for a member of the Garrett family when the Dark Army is out to destroy them? More importantly, will the Dark Army Glee Club sing at the reception?
