ARC Review: Three Weeks with a Princess (The Improper Princesses #2) by Vanessa Kelly

Title: Three Weeks with a Princess
Series: The Improper Princesses #2
Author: Vanessa Kelly
Pages: 352
Genre: Historical Romance

Release Date: June 27th
Pre-Order: Amazon

Book Description:

In Vanessa Kelly s captivating series, three young women are descended from royalty in the most improper way. But that doesn t stop them from pursuing lives rich in adventure. . .

Lia Kincaid, illegitimate daughter of the Duke of York, comes from a long line of notorious women. Raised by her grandmother, formerly mistress to the late Marquess of Lendale, she has little hope of a respectable marriage. But the new marquess, her childhood friend, Jack Easton, would make a very desirable protector . . . if he weren t too honorable to take her to bed.

It s bad enough being saddled with a title he never desired. Now Jack must resist the beautiful woman he desires far too much. Duty calls, and he is duty-bound to choose a wealthy bride. But then Lia makes another outrageous suggestion: asking Jack to devise some tests to find her the perfect paramour. Tests that involve flirting, kissing, and other pleasurable pursuits. Tests that, in a matter of weeks, could transform friendship into theton s greatest scandal, igniting a passion even duty can t deny. . .

Praise for Vanessa Kelly s Renegade Royals series Will definitely resonate with fans of Mary Jo Putney and Joanne Bourne. Booklist
Kelly combines diverting dialogue, delightful surprises and finely tuned pacing to make this a winner. Publishers Weekly(starred review)

My Review:

This book was really was enjoyable. Three Weeks with a Princess is a different take on a historical romance than I have read before. Yes, I have read historical books about illegitimate children before, but this was different. The book shows a, maybe, much more realistic look on what being that may have been like than the lighter side that I read before.

I did get a little, frustrated may be too strong of a word, that it was repeated over and over.  At a certain point it was well pointed out to the reader that Lia was illegitimate and that she and most people of the Ton thought she was good for nothing else but the life of a courtesan. That it was drawn out and repeatedly being thrown up felt like it did hold the plot back from advancing sooner.

However, while it did slow down Three Weeks with a Princess it definitely did not make me want to put it down. I was very curious as to what was going to happen to Lia and the budding realization that she and Jack was simply meant to be from a young age.

The ton of supporting characters from the novel has me anticipating who will have a book next and when I can get my hand on it! To me, they made the book much more interesting. I absolutely loved Gillian, from book one My Fair Princess, she is quite the character and very entertaining.

Vanessa Kelly is a very talented author, and I am looking forward to more Improper Princesses!
