Interview & #Giveaway: OVER THE IVY WALL by Rosa Sophia

Over the Ivy Wall Tour Graphic

Please help me welcome author Rosa Sophia to Full Moon Bites for an interview! Also do not miss the giveaway below. Read on to find out more about Over the Wall!

Holly: Hi Rosa! Would you tell us a little bit about yourself? :)

Rosa Sophia: Thank you for having me here! I am an editorial consultant and freelance writer, and although my body was born in Pennsylvania, my soul was born in Florida. I live in Jensen Beach, and Palm Bay, Florida. My background is actually in automotive technology, and my guilty pleasure is electrical schematics! I’m also an amateur historian with a focus on Florida history, and I love going to the beach and hanging out with my zillions of cats. (Please note: I don’t bring my zillions of cats to the beach with me, but the structure of that sentence amused me, so I left it alone.)

Holly: What do you do when you are not writing?

Rosa Sophia: When I’m not writing, I’m thinking about writing, or considering my next project. I also work with a lot of wonderful clients, helping them to improve their own manuscripts, so that takes up a lot of my time. And in general, I just like to sit around and pet my cats, and listen to the Jack Benny Program.

Holly: Do you write an outline before starting a book or just write?

Rosa Sophia: I think it’s important to have an outline, but not necessary to stick to it. You have to give yourself a framework without being too rigid. If you don’t have an outline or at least take notes, it’s easy to get lost or forget something if you step away from the story for too long. On the other hand, if your outline is too involved, it might be keeping you from doing the actual writing. A good balance is always key.

Holly: When did you realize that you would like to write and publish a book?

Rosa Sophia: For me, there was never any realization to this. I grew up writing and reading, and I knew from a young age that it was all I wanted to do. It just made sense, as I grew older, to try to publish my work. I also wanted to make it better and better, so I started attending conferences, and for the last three years I’ve gone to the Eckerd College Writers in Paradise Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida. So, for me, the realization itself has been lifelong, and it’s everything that drives me. My writing is the most important thing in my life.

Holly: What was the inspiration for this novel?

Rosa Sophia: “Over the Ivy Wall” was inspired by a dream I had. I dreamt that I was within the confines of this beautiful estate where the sun was shining and it was a spring or summer day. I was with a young man, and we were talking and enjoying each other’s company. At some point, there was a villainous entity, and we knew we had to flee. In order to get away, we had to escape over the ivy-covered wall that surrounded the estate. I woke up thinking, “Wow, what a neat dream!” So, I decided to write about it, and I was also inspired by a friend of mine, to whom the book is dedicated.

Holly: Where can we purchase this book?

Rosa Sophia: “Over the Ivy Wall” is available through Amazon, and so is the sequel, “Orion Cross My Sky.”

Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2017?

Rosa Sophia: On July 19, 2017, my novel “Listen for the Train” will be released by Less Than Three Press. It’s coming out in both digital and print formats, and I hope you’ll check it out! It’s a bit different than what I’ve written in the past, and it’s a story about a young woman whose cat goes missing. In the process of looking for her cat, she also finds herself. It’s an urban fantasy novel set in South Florida.

Holly: Are you reading anything interesting at the moment? If so, what is it?

Rosa Sophia: I’ve been reading Will Durant’s “The Reformation.” I’m working my way through the history of civilization. After all, a girl’s gotta have fun!

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Rosa Sophia: Yes! If you like my stories, please leave a review on Amazon. Every little bit helps. Thank you so much for reading my work, and I hope you enjoy it! I would also like to take a moment to direct readers to a very important organization, the Facial Pain Association:

In my novel, “Orion Cross My Sky,” the sequel to “Over the Ivy Wall,” the main characters suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, which is a condition I have had all my life. I write about it to raise awareness. The Facial Pain Association accepts donations to further their research into conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia. If you have a moment, I would love it if you would visit their website and read up!

Her only escape is Over the Ivy Wall...

Gaven Bridge has been sent to Clearwater to live with his Uncle Daniel. Never fitting in, he doesn’t believe he’ll ever meet anyone who understands him. But when he goes out for a walk in the woods, he happens upon a young lady sleeping soundly on a patch of moss.
A deep bond is fostered between them, helping Clara find the courage to change her life. When she finally decides to climb over the ivy wall and out into the world, there is no going back. Will Clara escape her horrible past, or will it destroy the love she and Gaven share?
"I fell in love even more with Clara and Gaven as their stories unfolded. To know where they came from, the downfall of their lives due to things beyond their control, captured my heart and mind and left me missing them once the final page was turned."
