Guest Post & #Giveaway: Trap and Trace by Megan Carney

Who would play your characters in a movie?

Wow. Trap and Trace as a movie is hard to imagine. After all the rejections I’ve had, the idea of a studio paying for the rights to bring the story to life is beyond amazing. But assuming I win the literary lottery, here goes.

I would like to see Navy Trent played by a strong female actress who’s the next Jennifer Lawrence or Anna Paquin. Not Jennifer Lawrence or Anna Paquin, even though I think they’re awesome. ‘Trap and Trace’ is ultimately a book about a woman who finds her strength during an incredibly difficult time. If I were lucky enough to see my book become a movie, I’d like the movie to be a chance for a strong female actress to launch her career.

For Jackson, I imagine a leading man like Clive Owen. An actor that can handle portraying a strong man who’s not a cardboard cutout action hero. Jackson is strong and he’s capable of violence, but he’s also careful and thoughtful and generally calm in a crisis. For all that, he’s not perfect. So I would want an actor that can handle all those levels gracefully.

For Byron, maybe Bruce Campbell from ‘Burn Notice’? Byron is not a fallen hero, like Campbell’s character in ‘Burn Notice’, but Byron is irreverent, and not intimidated by authority. Byron’s skills are less physical than the other main characters, though he can fight. He’s willing to voice opinions that are unpopular or inconvenient. But his main skill is being able to read a situation and choose the quickest path forward. He’s the oldest of the main characters. His experience as a field agent and an analyst means he often has perspective that Jackson doesn’t.

Publication date: July 18th 2017
Genres: Adult, Adventure, Thriller

A sabotaged CIA operation makes Navy Trent a captive. But surviving the kidnapping is just the beginning of her ordeal. The CIA will kill her if she doesn’t stay quiet. The saboteurs will kill her if she does. Navy is forced into a high-tech, high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse where only her wits – and a little bit of luck – can keep her alive.
