Guest Post & #Giveaway: Monsters & Angels by Anne Marie Andrus @

Please welcome author Anne Marie Andrus to Full Moon Bites! :)

First, thank you to Full Moon Bites for hosting the Monsters & Angels blog tour!

How To Beat Writer’s Block

I’m not sure I’ve suffered from full writer’s block, at least not yet. Writing stalls, which I blame on the weather, day to day life or social media…those I have experienced. Often, I have a ridiculous amount of disjointed ideas. I jot them down, can’t make sense of them later and get frustrated because I’m sure I wasted a once-in-a-lifetime flash of genius.
I need a solid block of time (hours are good, days are better) to let my mind relax and dip into the fantasy world where my stories come alive. I’ve worked full-time night shift for over thirty years, which is a blessing and a curse. Sometimes wacky sleep patterns blast my creativity into overdrive, and other times I’m just too exhausted to look at a computer screen.
There have been a few instances when I can’t figure out “what happens next” in my plotline. Loud music in my car helps. Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell-Back Into Hell and Bat Out of Hell-The Monster Is Loose were both go-to albums for inspiration. My best ideas have come when I’m at the gym, on the elliptical or treadmill. My head is clear and plot breakthroughs just dawn on me as if I should have known all along.
I think the key to writing—actually sustaining it long-term, is keeping it fun.

1.     Write an off-beat blog post.

2.     Try your hand at poetry.

3.     Go on a good old-fashioned rant.
Curse a little, hit save, edit later.

4.     Write a scene with pen and paper.

One of the best scenes I’ve created was a fleeting idea during a New Orleans vacation. I wrote (scrawled) it in a red marble notebook. I recently found my first draft and compared it to the currently published version. That passage remained almost identical. Word for word.

5.     When all else fails, drink.

Wine, beer, bourbon, café au lait…whatever sets your mind free.

Writing is a unique and precious gift. Love every minute of it!

Monsters & Angels

Publication date: October 11th 2017
Genres: Historical, New Adult, Paranormal Romance

Fledgling nurse Sorcha Alden knew she had the skills to save lives, but she never dreamed that her own life would be the one in danger.
Driven by tragedy to honor her family name, Sorcha embarks on a journey that takes her from the bleak but familiar streets of New York, through the sultry and seductive city of New Orleans, and into the brutal jungles of Nepal. Forging friendships and carrying on her mother’s mission of healing was her dream. Plunging into a love affair with the mysterious Dr. Ashayle could have been a fairytale.
Being murdered and waking up as a blood-thirsty monster—became her living nightmare.
Torn away form a life that had just begun, Sorcha returns to New Orleans as a newborn vampire, forced to start over in a cutthroat underworld of devilry and decadence. Complicated politics, bitter rivals and jealous ancestors stand between her and the promises she’s still determined to keep.
In a realm where the boundary between good and evil is as murky as the Mississippi River and immortal does not mean invincible, will Sorcha ever risk her shattered heart and love again? Can the magical harmony of the Crescent City give her enough courage to fulfill her eternal destiny?

Author Bio:
Anne Marie has been an equestrienne, chorale singer, candy-striper, EMT, and baseball fan. Roaming the back roads of New Jersey with her family, she found great respect for antiques, historical locations and the stories they hold. Her current list of favorite pastimes include coffee, bourbon, and Les Miserables--which requires more bourbon. She has been known to attend sporting events just for the flyover. The boat she and her husband christened Glory Days, is her escape from the chaos of everyday life.
The inspiration for Anne Marie's debut novel, Monsters & Angels, is her fascination with vampires and her passion for everything New Orleans. When she isn't writing, she can be found working nights with the critical care team in a busy trauma center.
