Interview & #Giveaway: DIOMERE'S EXILE by Sabrina A. Fish @SabrinaAFish

New Fantasy Romance Novel from Sabrina A. Fish
Diomere's Exile Tour Graphic

Holly: Hi! Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Sabrina A. Fish: I guess you'd call me a "too-many-irons-in-the-fire" type who flourishes when I'm busy. I'm an author, business owner, wife, mom of one human boy child and two feline babies, president of my state's writing organization, sometime PTA volunteer, scrapbooker, and avid reader. Whew! I wanted to start a Meals on Wheels chapter near me, but I wasn't willing to give up my reading time, so...that one's on hold. There's always next year, right?! I've got more book ideas than I'll probably ever get to and new ones constantly interrupting my sleep. I talk in my sleep when I don't write enough and have a serious addiction to chocolate. I love both hard core epic fantasy adventures and spicy fantasy romance equally. I'm excited to tell the world about my newest fantasy romance novel, Diomere's Exile.

Holly: Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers?

Sabrina A. Fish: Thank you. No, really. Thank you so much for allowing me to do what I do. I didn't even consider this a realistic occupation for myself until I was 28. I held my favorite authors on pedestals at heights I never thought I could possibly be good enough to reach. Now I'm 35 and seeing folks like you enjoy my work is SO freaking amazing! What an adventure the last 7 years have been. I never imagined this life when I was growing up. And it is all because YOU were willing to give my books a try. So, again, THANK YOU!

Holly: Your life is an action/suspense novel; your stuck on a ship and it’s about to blow. If it was just you, you would jump overboard and get away fast, but there are a few people that were being held captive on the ship too. What do you do?

Sabrina A. Fish: Grit my teeth and roll my eyes at the conscience I just can't seem to ignore, then turn around and figure out how to free the captives and myself before we all become BBQ'd shark bait.

Holly: When did you realize that you would like to write and publish a book?

Sabrina A. Fish: I was 28 and finished Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn series. After reading the last page, I put the book down and wished I could write something that made readers feel like I felt at that moment. Then I met a friend, ordinary like me, who was writing a book and thought, "If she can do it, so I can I." The rest is history.

Holly: Can you tell us, in your own words not the book description, a little about your book?

Sabrina A. Fish: Diomere's Exile is book 1 in The Gate Keeper Chronicles, and the first part of a fantasy epic that hinges on the love lives of 5 sisters. The gods have decided it's time for The Gate Keepers to return and once again open the gates between the magic and non-magic worlds. The eldest sister, Nadia, was exiled when her crown-prince nephew was abducted on her watch. She spends 12 years traveling the lands of Saimond searching for the prince to redeem herself and return home. She meets Gregor just as she finally locates her lost nephew who has been raised as the bastard son of a rival king. Though neither realize it, they are both working to save the "bastard" prince from those who hate magic and want him dead. When Nadia discovers a lost gate and learns of her part in a prophecy to open the two worlds to each other, she has to decide whether her love for Gregor and her place in the prophecy is more important than her long-held desire to return home to her sisters.

Holly: Which came first for you, the characters or the plot?

Sabrina A. Fish: The plot. My stories almost always start with plot.

Holly: What was the inspiration for this novel?

Sabrina A. Fish: My son asked for a pirate/mermaid story. It was supposed to be a middle grade story about a prince who is abducted from his home as a baby and is raised as the bastard of another king until he transforms into a mer boy and realizes he isn't at all who he thought he was. I had the first draft completely written and my critique partners pointed out that the aunt, Nadia, was way more interesting and suggested I tell the story from her point of view. I made the change and the premise for the whole series exploded from my imagination into what it is today.

Holly: Where can we purchase this book?

Sabrina A. Fish: It's available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBooks, and from my publisher, The Wild Rose Press.

Holly: Can we expect more novels from you in 2017/2018?

Sabrina A. Fish: I am working on The Gate Keeper Chronicles Book 2, Diomere's Healer, as we speak. My goal is to have it submitted to my publisher by end of year and have it be released by Summer or Fall 2018.

Holly: Do you think you will have a follow up book to this novel or is it just a stand-alone novel?

Sabrina A. Fish: Diomere's Exile is book 1 of a 5 book series called The Gate Keeper Chronicles.

Holly: What is the easiest part of writing in your opinion?

Sabrina A. Fish: Plotting. My imagination is quite inventive.

Holly: What is your favorite quote, by whom, and why?

Sabrina A. Fish: "Begin at the beginning," the King said, very gravely, "and go on until you come to the end: then stop." -Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Why? Because for a writer, this is the very best advice. It's also my answer when people ask me how I come up with enough to fill a whole book.

Random Quickies

Holly: Do you read more than you write?

Sabrina A. Fish: I read much, much more than I write. Reading is my escape from all the frustrations of real life.

Holly: Favorite book or author? Yeah we know it can be hard to choose! ;)

Sabrina A. Fish: I have 2 that equally hold the top spot on my list. Fantasy author, Brandon Sanderson and Fantasy romance author, Nalini Singh.

Holly: Favorite color?

Sabrina A. Fish: Bright Cobalt Blue. My car is cobalt blue, my hair has cobalt blue highlights, my front door is cobalt blue. I could go on, but you get the picture.

Holly: Hardback/Paperback or eReader?

Sabrina A. Fish: eReader, mostly.

Holly: Why do you like eReaders more?

Sabrina A. Fish: Because my library can go EVERYWHERE with me and I don't need a bigger purse. My shoulders and back appreciates this.

Series: The Gate Keeper Chronicles Book 1
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press
Publication Date: September 29, 2017
An exiled woman seeking redemption, and the man who distracts her from finding it.
Five Gates. Five Sisters. Five Very Different Men.
Once there were two worlds connected by five magical gates. Then the Gate Keepers closed the gates and disappeared. The Gate Keepers have returned.
Nadia de Quinones was exiled when her nephew, the crown-prince was abducted on her watch. She'll let nothing stand in the way of her redemption, not even discovering her heartbonded and a connection to an ancient magical gate.
Lord Gregor Cyrene is sworn to protect his country's royal heirs. After the youngest prince's life is threatened, Gregor sets out to discover who is responsible and suspects the answer lies with Nadia.
When fate forces their competing goals to align, neither are prepared for the irresistible attraction between them. Can they see beyond their pasts and a millennia old hate between their people? Or will they continue to distrust, allowing those plotting against them to win?
This is an excellent, fast-paced story that held my attention from beginning to end. Prepare yourself - the love scenes are hot, hot, hot!
